Craft Book Month

September is Craft Book Month at Craft Buds.

I love to read craft books and get inspiration! I will show you a few of my favorites books after I share my entry with the help of my grandson and niece.

Craft Book Month at Craft Buds

I made these dishcloths to practice new stitches. I learned to properly make these 2 stitches "extended single" and "double" crochet. It is a lot of fun and the resulting dishcloths will be donated to a local group for their craft/bake sale.

"The Crochet Stitch Bible" by Betty Barnden is an excellent go to book for learning new stitches. It has over 200 stitches in it, with detailed easy to follow charts. The photographs walk you through each step. Deborah at Simply Miss Luella gave me my copy. What a great prize!

It is pumpkin picking time In The Boon Docks. These two little ones loaded up this table with all these pumpkins out of Pappaw's garden. My hats are getting well used, it has started to get cold at night here. I had to make a few for my babies. I am still making hats but I only have a pamphlet of instructions. No craft book. But, I am proud of my hats and thought I would show you a few more. Still using my Knifty Knitter to make them that makes 9 so far to donate.

Now for my two favorite craft (quilt designing) books:

Quilting Modern techniques and projects for improvisational quilts by Jacquie Gering & Katie Pedersen

I think Jacquie is one of the nicest bloggers I ever communicated with through a blog.Jacquie @ Tall Grass Prairie Studio. She is the one who inspired me into joining a Modern Quilt Guild. One of the pioneers in Modern Quilting she is on the executive board for the National Modern Quilt Guild. A lot of talent is poured into one book.

Quilts from the house of Tula Pink by Tula Pink

I was happy to see Tula's book highlighted this month during Craft Buds Craft Book Month Craft Buds Highlights the Quilts from the House of Tula Pink. The interview with Elizabeth Maxson tells you all about the photography for the book. Excellent! Elizabeth Maxson is very talented photographer.

Tula Pink's book, designs, and fabric are awesome! I have to say she is my favorite fabric designer.

Hopefully by next years I will have the courage to make something from one of them. I believe that any book that teaches you anything new is wonderful. Until later, Lisa
