Spring

Updated April 30,2012

Do your children know the "Pledge of Allegence"? Teach them to respect the America flag, if you live in the USA.

Linking up with Connie at Quilting By The River on Tuesday.

My friend Lucy at Charm About You is having another Fugly Party, I had so much fun last time that I will be doing it again. It starts on May 8th so get ready to trade, please come join me. Click on the button and find out how you can giveaway, trade or whatever you want with that fabric you just don't want anymore. Fun, fun, fun, we will have together.

Charm About You

I really enjoyed going to all the blogs this week participating in the "Table Topper Blog Hop", it was lots of fun and I got a lot of great ideas! July 1, 2012, they are going to have a "Red, White, and Blue Block Blog Hop", if you are interested click on the new button on the right. After you read the latest news from the boon docks.

I received this little pine tree from my in-laws a couple of years ago. I think it is so pretty!

Well I finally know Spring is here because a pair of robins have nested in this little tree. Why would they nest so close to the ground, I don't know. But, I wish I could find a solid fabric in this color of blue.

Yesterday when I took David to look at the egg, we noticed 2 eggs. Sorry no picture to share. Sometimes it's just nice to go out and be in the yard. Today it rained most of the day.

I needed something to put these accessories in for my iPad so I made this with some scraps!

Now my iPad and I are ready to go somewhere just don't know where?

Here is a peek at what I am going to work on this week.

Hope you are having a nice weekend!

Until later, Lisa

Tuesday Linky

I am going to the Linky Party over at Quilting By The River the button is on the right. There is always something fun over there on Tuesday's. Please join us and be inspired.

The Festival of Half Square Triangles is on to voting for the top ten. Which has some beautiful quilts to vote on. I am so pleased with myself because I got my entry done and posted. But I wanted to share what I got done with all of you!

The Festival of Half Squared Triangles Entry is finally done. I appreciate all the followers who gave their input to help me get the creative juices flowing. The comment made by a few was to just go "crazy", so my friends, I did. I hope you all like the final results!

This is the front of my new iPad Bag! I just love the Zig Zag Revolution!!

The beautiful back of sideways zig zags!

Zig zag every way.

What I learned during this festival is:

1. It is easier to baste with this

Than trying to put 100 pins in something to quilt it.

2. How to make a flap and bind around it. (these were the hardest techniques for me). I pressed and pressed those little corners. I think it is much easier to bind a quilt than something small.

3. All those pillowcases I made in the last year using a "French Seam" paid off. It worked great on the sides.

I have loaded my photo's in the Flickr group and am joining the Festival of Half Squared Triangles Linky Party at Canoe Ridge Creations

Please click on the link to see what all of us who joined the festival have created for your viewing pleasure. I would have a button for you but i cannot get the html code to cut and paste. Still having a few problems learning iPad technology. It has gotten amazingly better in the last week.

Festival

Well the Festival has began and I am already behind. I do have a bright idea, as you can see here:

"Fresh" by Deb Strain from Moda

It is not to late to join in the fun, you have until April 22, 2012, to post you creation over at

festival of half square Triangles

Craftsy BOM blocks for April, block 1 completed. Hexagons by hand are impossible for me. I have difficulties sewing with my hands so I had to use my back up, my handy dandy sewing machine. I need to give her a name. But we will save that for another post.

I am helping out a friend and making a few of these Log Cabin Blocks for something she is working on. I know nothing about the fabrics except the solids are Robert Kaufman "Kona". My husband now wants a log cabin designed quilt for our bed.

Saturday was "Opening Day" around these parts for Little League Baseball. This is my little catcher at the bat. They grow up so fast, enjoy the time while it is here!

Saturday Morning, I decided to make these easy stroller blankets for some of the team members baby sisters. The weather on some days cools so fast when the wind blows. I thought they would be good to keep them warm. The fabric came off the clearance shelf at Walmart, a kit to make a hat and jacket, for $5, this worked out better. I practice my zig-zag stitch.

I am going to the "Linky party Tuesday over at

Quilting by the River

. Click on Quilting by the River and join me.

Lastly, I am back to using my old Acer Netbook to do my blog. My new ipad would not load my post yesterday. Then when I tried this morning it acted like it was loading the post and then it just disappeared. No idea where it went, so I rewrote the post this morning on the computer the iPad was meant to replace. Don't think I will give it away anytime soon.

Until next time,

Lisa

Look what the UPS man brought me last night. I won this over at Melanie's blog.

Thank you Melanie at http://www.asewingjournal.blogspot.com Hoot hoot!

Mystery Winner

It is Tuesday and I am linking up to "Quilting by the River". The button is on the right. I tried to link up last week and I couldn't get the linky to work with my IPad. Pop-up blocker is turned off for this week, maybe I'll get attached?
I have experienced a lot of difficulty learning to use my IPad2. In two weeks, I have deleted my blog. Made posts full of mistakes and couldn't correct them. Camera and picture problems. If you know of helpful apps please let me know. It is an ongoing search for apps to improve your blogging experience.
Speaking of the iPad, it needed a padded bag to keep it safe from little hands when not in use. Here is what I did: I took two 10" squares from a Connecting Threads Layer Cake, some Kona scraps, and leftover batting. I just started sewing and this is what I came up with.

I practiced my straight line quilting with my walking foot. The best part "I made it myself". Don't you enjoy listening to the hum of the machine as you create something you thought up. I enrolled in a Craftsy course on finishing you quilts. You should follow the link below and check their website out. I really enjoy the BOM course, looking at all the great projects others have made, and they even have patterns on the site.
Craftsy Block of the Month for April. Small hexagons and hand sewing are very difficult for me. So, I am using a hexagon template and my sewing machine trying to do the blocks for this month. I have only gotten this far.

I think it looks pretty good, if I do say so myself.
Now for the Mystery Giveaway! The prizes I decided to give the winner are:
1. A flag block kit
2. A jelly roll
3. a charm pack

A total of seven people commented on the two posts, minus my beautiful daughter. I took the names, stuck them in a cup and David drew out a winner.
Did I show you my Easter Bunny?

Isn't he cute!
Now, for the winner of the Mystery Giveaway is Karen at Quilting, Losing and Tea congratulations I can't wait to see what you make. I laughed when David pulled your name, I will put those scraps in there too. Please contact me with your address and I will get it in the mail.
Until later - lisa

Inspiration

Inspiration can come from anywhere. I am getting in the car this morning and I saw this and just had to share:

I ripped it off the Arby's bag and took these pictures. I think this pattern would look so cute as a mug rug or a quilt. I am going to make something using this pattern. Richard over at Richard Quilts has a chair as his inspiration. Maybe we could play a quilt block game? I told Richard I would make a block of his inspiration. Would you make a block for mine? I would for others if they would for me, we could all swap them. Maybe I can get Lucy at Charm About You to make us a button.

Don't forget my Mystery Giveaway

Giveaway

Happy Tuesday, hope I am not to late!

I have worked on my Super Sized Hexagon Log Cabin, got the block all sewn together.

I went to the store and purchased the fabric, got home and guess what? It is the wrong color. So, later this week I will take my creation with me and find the right shade. Two trips to town in one week because I didn't THINK! Look boo hoo!

Lesson learned to match colors on a project, bring it or a color swatch with you to the store.

Here is an inspirational photo of a great pattern I saw this morning in the kitchen. David picked me this tulip the other day and it was opened this morning. Nature can really inspire me.

Mystery Giveaway

This giveaway is for followers! Of course anyone can be a follower just join us here "in the boon docks", and leave a reply to the question. The Prize is going to be something really good, I just don't know if I what (It is crazy around my house at Easter time). So, if you will just play along with me I will give a quilting book, jelly roll, or a few charm packs away to the winner on April 7, 2012, at around midnight. Everyone get's one chance to win. If you are a no-reply blogger, please leave your email address, unless you just don't want to win. This giveaway is open to everyone, because my friend across the seas are always so great to me.

Leave a comment telling me:"How do you remember who manufactured and designed every piece of fabric you use in something you made? Then I want to know how you feel about writing it all out to post a picture of it on your blog? Are you going to do it?
