When Life Happens

First, if you are looking for the Giveaway click HERE!. Welcome to all the new followers and thank you all for sharing about your favorite birthday presents! I will say we have a lot of iPads and Kindles out there! I am still trying to get threw all the comments! The best thing for a blogger is a full inbox! I had a giveaway once with only 5 people, so this is really Awesome! Yippee! (I am jumping and kicking my heels together).

I really haven't posted anything lately because I have been grieving! Yesterday, I decided I had better do something (to pull myself out of this) so I cut up the Lorax panel and a few strips to sew a boarder on then sewed the background to the main fabric on the first block for the
Skill Builder BOM. The lesson is excellent, I followed the step-by-step instructions with no problems at all. The hardest part was choosing the colors I would use.

I finished the block this morning, it is called "Soundwave" and I am sooo happy with it! The Ombre Dots is the background fabric for the first 2 blocks. I am going to try FMQ (free motion quilting) and QAYG (quilt as you go), Also part of the free BOM. The first I have little experience with and the latter - zippo experience. So we will see if I mess up all my hard work or learn a couple new skills. I am hoping for new skills - gotta take a chance to move forward!

I got both Angela Walter's books to help in FMQ. I believe books are a wonderful resource to use when you are learning a new skill. I also plan on doing book reviews on both of them. Don't go thinking you don't have a lot of money to buy books, because neither do I.

In fact I usually look at the library first, (always find out who orders books in you local library, and make them your friend). I try to recommend the best quilting books that will "Increase Circulation", Librarians, love that word! I may have to wait a few weeks but they will usually order one or two for you. Also, all those other crafty type books you don't use anymore donate them to the library. They will either keep them or sell them but will make you friends!

Now how did I get "Free-Motion Quilting with Angela Walters" for $14.63 - eBay. Goodwill Industries nows sells the newer books donated to them on eBay. I have always found the best prices on new books being sold from Goodwill sellers. Search your book title and them look for the Goodwill Seller with the best price.

The second book "In the Studio with Angela Walters", I found for $10.00 on Flickr, someone wanted to trade it or sell it. She had something else I wanted to buy so I traded her a 1/2 yard of fabric and $10.00.

I got both books for the price of one and some change. Now, you know my secrets and I hope they work for you too!

Would any one like these? I found these yesterday, digging in a box and I have no use for them! If you would like them (you have to take all three) then email me and put, "YES, I want them", in the subject line. First email I get I will mail them to you! The only thing I ask in return is 1/2 FQ (9"x11") piece of fabric you think I might like. So, I will even mail Internationally and it costs you an envelope, stamp, and a piece of fabric! Interested?

My friend, Stacey Nida, pictured Here died on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at (36) of a heart attack. She was a mother of two children a boy (7) and a girl (13). She told me once "When God calls you can't just hang up". She was right!

I am sad her children will grow up without her and that her parents grieve for her passing. I am sad that her children are being pulled from their home and split up to move in with their fathers. Having lived their whole lives just steps away from their grandparents. I know it is the law but so much change just days after loosing their mother. My heart hurts for all of them. My mother told me that no one on the blog knew her and wouldn't want to hear such sad news. I believe in the power of prayer and I ask each of you to pray (have a moment of good thought for those who choose) for her children!

Thank you for hearing me out. I hope I will be back to myself tomorrow.
Create and be unique. Lisa

  5. I am so sorry to here about your friend, Stacey. I remember that post and her picture holding her knitting. My mother died at 37 of a heart attack, I was ten, my sister was 16. I still grieve and think of her everyday. Her birthday was March 17, St Patricks Day. Allow yourself to grieve, it is part of feeling the loss of someone you cared about deeply. 8. I am so sorry to hear of your friend spassing. It is so hard when we loose someone we love and or think so much of. Shareing your greif I believe is essentila to the grieving process. It is so therapeutic to talk and get things off of ones mind. I feel horriable her children are being split up and I do not even know them. But as a mother My heart shudders at the thought . Their whole little world is beingripped apart and put back together all different. May they have a loveing envoronment that they are going too and I pray they adjust.
