Shake Your Pom Poms & GIVEAWAY

This Giveaway is now closed! I want to take moment to thank Madam Samm @ Sew We Quilt and Theatrica @ Pig Tales and Quilts the greatest cheerleaders around! I love a challenge and Madam Samm just keeps thinking them up! Thank you ladies for arranging another terrific hop! Welcome to "In The Boon Docks"! I am Lisa and this is my place in the middle of the woods on the side of hill! Today we are talking pom poms if you have been following the blog hop you have seen quite a few ways to use them! One thing I have observed about creative people is they like to sew, knit, crochet, and many other crafts. Pom poms can be used with many crafts to decorate and accessorize. These are a few hats I made during the winter for baby gifts. The pom poms were made using Clover Large Pom Pom Maker for a finished 2 1/2" pom pom. I made this hat for the Shake Your Pom Poms Blog Hop and myself! Love the colors in this yarn. I make hats using Knifty Knitter! I used the Jumbo P

Sweet Aubree

Image
Aubree is due to be born around May 10, 2013. Exciting time in her family's life! She will round out a family of four, with a big brother. Her big brother's birthday is also in May and is looking forward to his special birthday present "Aubree". I know she will be a "Cherish Child", and I am ready for her delivery. Her folks are kind and generous people. This is my first quilt finish in 2013 , and I made " Sweet Aubree " for her from picking out fabric, sewing, quilting, binding to hand stitching her name on the side. I sewed (16) 10 1/2" Squares in rows of four and then sewed the rows together. Very simple but also very pretty depending on the fabrics chosen. It is an excellent way to display fabrics you love! On the back three rectangles sewn together. This is a perfect beginners quilt! Great baby quilt! Le Challenge - Geometrics

Image
Lucy & Nat have me really intrigued over their new blog Le Challenge . The first challenge is Geometrics! I cannot wait to see what everyone has created. But first I suppose I should tell you what I made. Two potholders that are square and have rectangle piecing. Made these for my own kitchen to brighten it up. My second entries are Oval and quite fun to make you can find the link for Easter Egg Potholders, the tutorial and pattern HERE about halfway in the post. I had fun thinking up items that would fit with the challenge and still be what I needed to get completed. I will be back next month ladies! Cannot wait to see what Lucy & Nat come up with next. Thank you for stopping by "In The Boon Docks" and please stop in again. Create and be unique, Lisa I have a giveaway going with Aurifil Thread and a few other goodies, if you haven't entered please do! Enter Giveaway Here

What is going

Image
Hi everyone, let me tell you about my wonderful week with toilets that didn't want to flush. Can you imagine no showers for 2 days, then only 5 minutes for the last 4 days. It takes that long to get the water right when your fixing it for a kid. Cannot wash clothes or use your dishwasher. Then you can use your dishwasher but water starts backing up in it and then a circuit on the board burns out. Slipped on a towel and twisted my back and that but me out for a few days. Just not the best week. All my vacation money just went down the drain literally! Sometimes I wish I never left the city. Ugh! My yard! It has a pump with it's own alarm system! For a septic system! Sometimes things happen in our lives that we think "I can't handle one more thing". Most everything were things that could be fixed and just annoyed me. My family are all healthy, I twisted my back, it happens, a few colds, but nothing serious! Thank you God! We will go on vacation next

Covert Robin

Image
If you are looking for the April Showers Blog Hop Giveaway it is HERE When Rachael @ imagine gnats posted about Covert Robin signups. I just could not help myself, I had to try it! I am so happy I did. Thank you Rachael and all the others who put this great swap together. Theresa Seykora @ Around The Home Adventures was my Covert Robin and I still cannot believe the amazing gifts. I have tried to look at her online presence but she has no blog I can find. So I will say this here! She is wonderful, thoughtful and very talented. I feel very honored to be on the receiving end. I look at the items and instantly "Happy". Thank you Theresa! I have already used my new library bag and everyone here loved your GS cookies. I should have hid those! If you know my crazy household, you know my refrigerator is covered in school calendars, photographs, and art created by my children from over the last 27 years. I always need magnets (how did she find that out)? They match

April Showers Blog Hop

Thanks you Madame Samm Sew We Quilt! and Erin Sew At Home Mummy for being the best cheerleaders in the world. Madame Samm I love how you keep thinking up great hops! You keep us challenged, that is for sure! I love "Stitching On Prints" it is so fun! I tried out DMC Cotton Perle, Aurifil, and a pack of cheap stuff with great colors. The Cotton Perle is inexpensive and works pretty well. The cheap stuff is awful it is hard to pull through the fabric and I will not buy again. The Aurifil is just right. I hope to get more and start "Stitching On Print" a series. Where we work together once a week and learn stitches. I love the effect in the mug rug. April Showers Blog Hop Day 1! These are the Blogger for April 8, 2013. The April Showers Blog Hop is from April 8 - 18, 2013. Please stop by and give a comment for all their hard work. You can get the full schedule at Erin's blog Sew At Home Mummy Erin@Sew at Home Mummy Patty@A Stitch In Time Jenny@Squawk

Bird Seed Wreath

Image
Friday night I needed something fun for David and my niece to do in the evening. I found this Birdseed Wreath tutorial weeks ago and we had everything on hand. They combined all the ingredients except I couldn't figure out Knox gelatin. My cousin's wife clued me in that Fruit Pectin and Knox Gelatin are one and the same. Since I make Jams and jellies every year I always have a few boxes in the cabinet. The best part is watching them mix it up because it is really STICKY! Spray your bundt pan really well with nonstick spray (Pam)! POPs right out! DH just used the leftover binding scrap from the Halloween quilt and it turns out great see! The kids had a great time making this project and the birds will eat it. But don't hang it on your porch - birds tend to be a bit messy and leave presents! Great springtime activity! We highly recommend it! Hope you all had a wonderful Easter! Create and be unique, Lisa
