Here's to Mommys

Image
Busy, busy, not much sewing going on! Changing diapers and making bottles! Eat, play, and crash! Wake up and do it all again! But I had a big helper this week! Bounce, bounce, and bounce some more! These things are great! I have done a little crocheting with big balls of fabric! Making a very bright rug for our kitchen. We will see how I do when I start sewing it together. Hope you had a great week! We did! Our little visitor goes home tomorrow! This ol' momma bear is going to hibernate for a day or so! Until next time, create and be unique! Lisa

Quilters Candy Unwrapped June Winner

Image
My last project The mini tumbler quilt I am working on with the Aspen Frost Moda Candy (2 1/2 charms). I used Missouri Star Quilt Co. 2 1/2 Mini Tumbler Template to cut them up really quick, and at $3.88 you can't beat the price. Then I realized I had sewn all the rows the same. With a tumbler quilt each row alternates. They are all ready to be sewn back up but my power has been off until this evening! When you live in the woods and a tree falls and breaks the power pole a mile away, it takes at least a day to put up another pole. They had our road blocked all day because the pole came down across the road. Domino effect! No traffic all day, not that we have much, but it was nice. We played with Zoey! Sometimes it is not so bad without T.V. or electronic games, just soft toys and laughter. Reminder Don't forget Half Pint Knits Also, as a special bonus, I am offering the readers of In the Boondocks a 10% discount for the month of June. Use 10BOONDOCKS at checkout to re

DIY Bag

Image
I bought this black canvas bag for $3.99 with an ugly print on the front and made it mine. With a quilt block from a special "BEE" and some binding. I then just sewed it over the print and ta da, it it finished. Such an easy project that anyone can do it! It would have cost me more money to buy the canvas than the completed bag! I love the closures too! WIP I got all this cut out this afternoon for a pouch to go with my DIY bag! Don't forget the Giveaway for this cute Turtle! Enter HERE ! Plume and June's Lets Get Acquainted! Monday Link up! Is at Lucy's Charm About You this week. So I am linking up! Until Next Time! Create and be Unique! Lisa

Zakka 2.0 Project 1 Peppers

Image
The Zakka 2.0 Patchwork, Please Sew Along has officially begun! The Bell Pepper Coasters are the first project in the book Patchwork, Please! by Ayumi Takahashi. But Penny @ sewtakeahike.typepad.com made hot pads by increasing the pattern in the book by 180 degrees. Check out Penny's blog for other tips on hot pads instead of coasters. Realizing we would never use coasters I opted to make these hot pads. I am so glad I did! They will really brighten up any kitchen! Instead of felt for the stem I used a Robert Kaufman ribbon. I used fabric from my scrap packs I buy from Hawthorne Threads and Kona Solids. I love them! This will be item number one to enter in the County Fair. Until next time, create and be unique! Lisa I am linking up! Come see all week 1 projects @ Lindsey's LRstitched

Is someone using your blog

Recently I have found out a few things about how others use our blogs and comments to climb higher on the advertising Google ladder. I will be deleting this post in a few days because I don't want them linking their junk to my blog! So if you are the one doing this and I figure out who you are you will no longer be welcome here! I never thought about it much because who hasn't entered a Giveaway that was closed already. Or are the bad guys the only ones and me. I am just a little pissed off! If you go to the "Design" on your blog, after it opens up, you will see "Stats" click on that and open it up, then open "Traffic Sources" Removed Links Bad Guy #2 tells you they are doing it Referer spam is not against the law! Referer spam also known as log spam or referer bombing. The technique involves making repeated web site requests using a fake referer URL that points to the advertised site. Sites that publicize their access logs, including referer

May Fresh Sewing Day

Image
Hi, Welcome to "In The Boon Docks! This is my recap of the month of May! this month I did a lot of little things. Next month, I really need to finish a tutorial. I never knew just how hard one could be to write. I also need to finish "The Lorax" for my little guy. Back to May! I love swaps and the deadline for the Fabric Basket Swap was June 5, so I got my partners gifts in the mail early. Making my first Zakka Style Pincushion for my partner and a cute birdie basket too! I made things I really loved myself. Then I mailed them off to a new home. It is always great when your partner tells you how much they liked their gifts. It is the best part of the swap to me. I always worry it might not be good enough. I guess I still need validation sometimes. I really enjoyed making flags with the WVMQG to send To Boston With Love that are now hanging in the Museum of Fine Arts Boston Bee blocks for Scrappy? Sew bee it! . Another June goal catch up on bee blocks! St
