Here's to Mommys

Busy, busy, not much sewing going on! Changing diapers and making bottles!
Eat, play, and crash! Wake up and do it all again!

But I had a big helper this week!

Bounce, bounce, and bounce some more! These things are great!

I have done a little crocheting with big balls of fabric! Making a very bright rug for our kitchen. We will see how I do when I start sewing it together.

Hope you had a great week! We did! Our little visitor goes home tomorrow! This ol' momma bear is going to hibernate for a day or so!

Until next time, create and be unique! Lisa

Quilters Candy Unwrapped June Winner

My last project

The mini tumbler quilt I am working on with the Aspen Frost Moda Candy (2 1/2 charms). I used Missouri Star Quilt Co. 2 1/2 Mini Tumbler Template to cut them up really quick, and at $3.88 you can't beat the price. Then I realized I had sewn all the rows the same. With a tumbler quilt each row alternates. They are all ready to be sewn back up but my power has been off until this evening!

When you live in the woods and a tree falls and breaks the power pole a mile away, it takes at least a day to put up another pole. They had our road blocked all day because the pole came down across the road. Domino effect! No traffic all day, not that we have much, but it was nice. We played with Zoey! Sometimes it is not so bad without T.V. or electronic games, just soft toys and laughter.

Reminder

Don't forget Half Pint Knits

Also, as a special bonus, I am offering the readers of In the Boondocks a 10% discount for the month of June. Use 10BOONDOCKS at checkout to receive your discount! (Discount code expires of June 30th 2013). I bet if she doesn't have it in her shop she might do a custom order! Think Christmas!

Now let see who won these!

Ummm, I'm the worst with blog titles, so how about 'Quilt Candy Giveaway'? Yeah, I did warn you. LOL

My favorite of the lines--and it's hard to choose--would be Boho.

Half Pint Knits Winner

I really want to thank Noell for sponsoring this giveaway! She is a very talented lady. Now don't forget you can get a 10% discount at her Etsy shop until June 30th. I plan to do a little Christmas shopping myself on payday. Yes, I said the "C" word, I buy all year long, everyone is very happy on the day and I am not broke the day after. I usually never use charge cards and have that debt hanging over my head.
I bet you know someone who would love one of her creations.

Hello! My name is Noell and I am the owner of Half Pint Knits. I am a married momma who just loves to knit! I am married to a wonderful man and together we have a 4 ½ year old son who keeps me on my toes all day, every day. I started knitting nearly four years ago after our son was born. I can knit just about anything but stuffed animals and toys are my favorite projects. And I bet you can guess who benefits quite a bit from my love of knitting toys! Not only does my son have many of my creations but other little members of our family do as well. In fact, that was how my Etsy store, Half Pint Knits, came to be. Last spring, I realized that I could be sharing my talent with little ones (and adults!) all over.

For this giveaway, I am offering Miss Tiana the Turtle. She is a lively little thing, let me tell you! Don’t be fooled just because she is a turtle. Miss Tiana is ready for adventure!
Miss Tiana was made using 100% cotton yarn. Her shell features bright colors of pink, blue, green and white. Her legs, head and tail are a light green color. She is stuffed with polyfil and has a pair of black safety eyes. She measures approx. 4 inches tall and 5 inches long from head to tail (measuring her from the bottom side.) Around her middle is almost 13 inches.
Also, as a special bonus, I am offering the readers of In the Boondocks a
10% discount for the month of June. Use 10BOONDOCKS at checkout to receive your discount! (Discount code expires of June 30th 2013)

New bag and pouch

Sometimes you just want to make something for yourself!

After putting a new face on my bag! I wanted a pouch to hold my little things (money, checkbook, wallet, pen, Chapstick, and receipts! Then keep my crocheting project in the bottom of the big bag (2 balls of yarn, crochet hook, and the current scarf). The satchel is large enough to stuff my iPad in when needed! Everything, in one place ready to go.
Now, I just need to find somewhere to take it!

I love all these fabrics together! The green zipper really makes the colors "pop"!

All done! I hope it looks like an artists bag! Unique like me!

Fabrics: all pulled out of the big scrap bin!

What do you think?

Thank you for stopping by "In The Boon Docks"

Until next time my friends, create and be unique! Lisa

DIY Bag

I bought this black canvas bag for $3.99 with an ugly print on the front and made it mine. With a quilt block from a special "BEE" and some binding. I then just sewed it over the print and ta da, it it finished. Such an easy project that anyone can do it! It would have cost me more money to buy the canvas than the completed bag! I love the closures too!

WIP

I got all this cut out this afternoon for a pouch to go with my DIY bag!

The Tammy Project Bag Blog Hop
Day 2

Madam Samm of Sew We Quilt is a super talented lady and when I spotted that she had a free pattern she created available for this blog hop, I couldn't wait to sign up! She is also our "Head Cheerleader" but isn't she always! Gotta love her, she keeps us all busy and entertained! Thank you Madam for the great experience of creating my own Tammy Bag!

This bag is nice and roomy! Cupcake agrees with me!

It has 4 great pockets to hold my lovely Aurifil thread for a stitching project! Madam Samm's pattern was the answer to a pray!

By changing the piping around backwards, I could stitched it down with my machine. Of course, then I had to do a little stitching on the pockets to bring out the fabric design!

Now, I had a few problems because I used a heavier interfacing than was recommended when I went to put the lovely handle on! I almost through it away. Suggestion: follow directions! Instead, I turned it back inside out and removed the interfacing a 1/2" from the top at the seams! .

My next problem was sewing the handle into the bag! Here I have this bag I love and I open it up and see my sloppy stitches! My solution: I then went to the store and bought some Krazy Glue All Purpose Brush-On. Carefully brushing the glue on, using a little turning stick that is flat with a point to get the fabric to the top and shoving the fabric in all around the inner frame! Worked like a charm! Glue works fantastic!

"Gerald" is showing you he doesn't fit (he's about 13" tall) but everything else around him was inside the "Tammy Bag". It is very roomy and holds all my stitching things plus my buddy "Cupcake"!

Please visit the others on the list for today! It is amazing how people interpret the same pattern!

Zakka 2.0 Project 1 Peppers

The Zakka 2.0 Patchwork, Please Sew Along has officially begun! The Bell Pepper Coasters are the first project in the book Patchwork, Please! by Ayumi Takahashi.

But
Penny @ sewtakeahike.typepad.com made hot pads by increasing the pattern in the book by 180 degrees. Check out Penny's blog for other tips on hot pads instead of coasters. Realizing we would never use coasters I opted to make these hot pads. I am so glad I did! They will really brighten up any kitchen!

Instead of felt for the stem I used a Robert Kaufman ribbon. I used fabric from my scrap packs I buy from Hawthorne Threads and Kona Solids.

I love them! This will be item number one to enter in the County Fair.

Until next time, create and be unique! Lisa

Is someone using your blog

Recently I have found out a few things about how others use our blogs and comments to climb higher on the advertising Google ladder.

I will be deleting this post in a few days because I don't want them linking their junk to my blog! So if you are the one doing this and I figure out who you are you will no longer be welcome here!

I never thought about it much because who hasn't entered a Giveaway that was closed already. Or are the bad guys the only ones and me. I am just a little pissed off!

If you go to the "Design" on your blog, after it opens up, you will see "Stats" click on that and open it up, then open "Traffic Sources"

Bad Guy #2 tells you they are doing it

Referer spam is not against the law!
Referer spam also known as log spam or referer bombing. The technique involves making repeated web site requests using a fake referer URL that points to the advertised site. Sites that publicize their access logs, including referer statistics, will then inadvertently link back to the advertised site. These links will be indexed by search engines as they crawl the access logs. Read more about referer spam at Wikipedia.

Then somewhere buried in your blog you might find these Bad Guys hanging around! I have spent my morning trying to figure it out and read all about robot.txt file but if you do it wrong no search engine will pick up you blog. Do not mess with something you don't understand!

How do we remove them? Unfortunately, I don't know! Just makes me mad and I am venting! Sorry to all the great people out there!

I sure hope I don't sound like a fool! Lisa

May Fresh Sewing Day

Hi, Welcome to "In The Boon Docks! This is my recap of the month of May! this month I did a lot of little things. Next month, I really need to finish a tutorial. I never knew just how hard one could be to write. I also need to finish "The Lorax" for my little guy.

Back to May! I love swaps and the deadline for the
Fabric Basket Swap was June 5, so I got my partners gifts in the mail early. Making my first Zakka Style Pincushion for my partner and a cute birdie basket too! I made things I really loved myself. Then I mailed them off to a new home. It is always great when your partner tells you how much they liked their gifts. It is the best part of the swap to me. I always worry it might not be good enough. I guess I still need validation sometimes.

I really enjoyed making flags with the WVMQG to send To Boston With Love that are now hanging in the Museum of Fine Arts Boston

Bee blocks for Scrappy? Sew bee it!. Another June goal catch up on bee blocks!

Stitch on Prints is one of my latest passions. This pocket is one of two I am working on for my Tammy Bag for Madam Samm of Sew We Quilt a blog hop which will run from Jun 12 - 18, 2013. My day will be Jun 13th. If you haven't signed up for the May Stitch on Prints Giveaway please do so HERE
