Craft Book Month

Image
Over at Craft Buds it is Craft Book Month. Lots of books are being given away. I love to link up for fun and prizes. You might want to follow the link and see all the creations and signup for a few giveaways along the way. To link up I need to write a blog post about a craft book and a project I made from it in 2013! So, here goes! Patchwork Please by Ayumi Takahashi is one of my favorite books! I bought the book to participate in Zakka Along 2.0 : Patchwork Please Sew Along As always with me, after a few projects, 10 other items needed to be made or taken up and I fell behind. I have still followed along and enjoyed everyone else's beautiful makes. My favorite items I made are the "Bell Pepper Hot Pads"! In the book they are coasters but the expert for that week Penny @ Sew Take A Hike showed us how to make hot pads! There are still a two projects left if you are interested Zakka Along 2.0 : Patchwork Please Weekly Project Links! Thank you for stopping by, U

Selfish Sewing Week Day 2 & 3

Image
Day 2 & 3 Birch Fabrics makes beautiful fabrics that are wonderful for sewing! I am loving working with them this week. Today I made a clutch purse using "Elk Grove Patchwork", a fat quarter of Kona solid fabric, white Aurifil 50 wt. thread, and the Pretty Little Framed Purse Tutorial again. The tutorial has directions for both a coin and clutch framed purse. I recommend it highly for making both projects! Elk Grove Patchwork Elk Grove Birch Fabrics The tutorial calls for a 10" square to be folded in half to make the clutch but with directional fabrics, the back ends up being upside down. I fussy cut (2) pieces 5 1/2" x 10 1/2" (so it has a little extra), then I sewed the two bottoms halves together to make one piece. I then cut it down to a 10" square, so when it is folded it will have the two tops, and both sides are right-side up. Side 1 Side 2 I used this lovely green/blue Kona solid for the inside! I sewed the frame with Aurifil 12 wt.,

Selfish Sewing Week Day 1

Today is Day 1 of Selfish Sewing Week @ Imagine Gnats . Rachael is a hoot, and I love participating in the things she thinks up! One reason, she and her friends are fun! The other reason is there are always plenty of giveaways going on. After you read my post hop on over to Rachael's and signup for them. I just love Birch Fabric the way it feels so soft. They were nice enough to send me a little and I saved it for Selfish Sewing Week to make a few things for myself. Isn't this fabric so "In The Boon Docks"? It looks like it was just made for me! In The Trees Elk Grove Birch Fabrics What to make for myself was really hard to decide. I make lots of things but usually for other people. I got to thinking about what I needed. It occurred to me that I didn't have a coin purse. My change is just floating around in the pouch I carry around. This morning I found the Pretty Little Framed Purses Pattern from the Moda Bake Shop, .pdf in my ibooks, that I had

A Lovely Year of Finishes - September Goal

Image
For months I have gotten e-mails from bloggers all doing "A Lovely Year Of Finishes"! It only took me 9 months to try it myself! Let's see how it goes. The one goal for the month of September 2013 will be to quilt " Meet The Lorax " so David can put it on his bed when it gets cold. Usually, I send my quilts to a good friend who quilts them for me at very little cost. I have thought about just sending it to her so it would be perfect but inside I think I really want to do it myself! Nothing fancy just some straight line quilting down the rows maybe 3" apart. So, I make this my goal for the month and we will see if I can get it done or run off to the long-arm quilter if I have to pick it all out. I will keep you posted. I don't know Zoey, you think I can quilt it myself? Nana is sure going to try! Thank you for stopping by "In The Boon Docks"! Until next time, Create and be unique, Lisa I am linking up with Shanna @ Fiber of All Sorts Do
