Win a Baby Lock Melody Sewing Machine

Baby Lock Melody Sewing Machine

To enter the giveaway at Amy's Creative Side Blogger's Quilt Festival I need to tell the world why I need a new "Melody Baby Lock" sewing machine.

Well my current sewing machine, Martha, is second hand and has been used to death. Who wouldn't want a new state of the art sewing machine.

Mine is 10 years old and they don't make it any longer. So once it breaks, parts will be impossible or very expensive to repair.

I go on a hope and a prayer each time I turn it on.

I can give you (8) great reasons I need a Melody Baby Lock! I promise If I win I'll name her "Amy"!

Advanced Needle Threader

Threading a needle has never been easier than with this innovative threader. With just a few simple motions, your needle is threaded and ready to use - it’s so easy, you can do it with one hand!

Quick-Set, Top-Loading bobbin

Avoid the struggle of changing your bobbin with the Quick-Set feature. Simply drop your bobbin in the machine, pull your threads through the slot, and let your machine do the rest of the work.

Quick-Set Bobbin Winder

The Melody takes all of the hassle out of sewing - including winding your bobbins! The winder seat holds the thread in place and stops automatically when the bobbin is full.

Push Button Features

With a suite of push button features, your sewing projects have never been easier to complete. Position the needle up or down, reinforce any stitch with the reverse sewing button, or sew without a foot control using the start/stop button.

Stitches

Projects such as quilting, home d├ęcor, and crafts require specialty stitches. The Melody includes dozens of built-in stitches that are perfect for the projects you choose to create and you can even sew extra large decorative stitches with lateral feed.

Built-in Accessory Storage

You’ll never run out of choices for new machine accessories, and now you’ll never run out of room to store them! Keep your accessories organized and at your fingertips with this built-in storage unit.

Quilting Extension Table

Allows you to extend your sewing surface to provide extra support for perfect stitches on even the largest quilts.

Knee Lift

Effortlessly raise the presser foot with a tap of the knee, leaving your hands free for control and precision in your sewing.

My income leaves me at a disadvantage when it come to purchasing a "Melody Baby Lock" sewing machine!
So to win one would be a lifesaver!

Just think of all the beautiful things I could create! I am not to proud to beg and I would make Baby Lock proud with my creations.

Thanks to all who stopped in and played along! The best part is if you have a blog and write a post you can enter too! Just follow the link above to Amy's and get busy writing your own post!

I would love to create and be unique on a

Melody Baby Lock Sewing Machine!

Wouldn't you!

Cool Breeze

Welcome to "In The Boon Docks"! I appreciate you stopping by to have a look at my latest quilt! I really love hexagon quilts and this was my way to make one with the
10" Half Hexagon Template. Amy always says to enter your favorite quilt and "Cool Breeze" is my favorite throw quilt.
I hope you like it too!
Please have a look around and come back often!

Quilt Stats

Cool Breeze
57.5" x 67"

Piece by: Elizabeth Johnson (Me)
Quilted by: Elizabeth Johnson (Me)
Binded by: Elizabeth Johnson (Me)
Category: Throw Quilt

Fabrics
Hexagon Blocks - Poetry In Motion, Autumn Breeze Colorway, Karen Harris, Modern Yardage
Background - Ash, Kona Solid, Robert Kaufman Backing: Sage, Kona Solid, Robert Kaufman; 2 1/2 strips from Merlot & Pacific Jelly Rolls; green scrap (older than my color chart), Kona Solid
Threads
Piecing - Aurifil thread 50 wt. #2024 White
Quilting - Aurifil thread 50 wt. #2600
Binding - Aurifil thread 50 wt. #4662
Hexagon outline - Aurifil 12 wt. #5004, #2235, #1231, #4663

Each hexagon is outlined with Aurifil 12 weight (wt) threads for a little color pop! Adding stitching to a quilt is something I wanted to do for a long time. When I received the fabrics from Modern Yardage, I was excited to find color matches in my stash of Aurifil threads. I knew it was time to try it out and I'm very happy with the results.

The back is a combination of Kona Solids from two jelly rolls, some left over yardage from another quilt, and a beautiful chunk of sage. I bought two yards when purchasing the binding, it matches the greens in the blocks, and I love this shade of Kona! My husband said I made two tops. That is his way of saying he really likes it!.

For more detail on this quilt please look at my post on Modern Yardage and enter the current giveaway!

Thanks again and here is a link back to the Blogger's Quilt Festival

Modern Yardage

Modern Yardage is an online company offering quality, affordable fabrics that are unique (digital printing) and designer quality. Modern Yardage uses environmentally friendly inks. All their fabric is printed in the USA. Customers choose design, size and scale of the fabric and it is printed upon purchase. Giving the consumer the ability to mix and match scales, choose colors and come up with something truly bold and beautiful on their own! Most impressive Modern Yardage was voted by Martha Stewart, American Made, a 2013 Technology Finalist
. Winning the Technology category!

I approached April Cobb in August about making a quilt from the Modern Yardage fabric. We discussed several options and decided on a quilt made from designer Karen Harris' fabrics. She said she had never seen a quilt made with Karen's fabrics and agreed to let me choose fabrics to include in the quilt. I was very impressed with the owner of Modern Yardage and the internet site. First you choose the design/color options you want, then the scale (small, medium, large), and size of fabric you want to purchase. I used some of each option to give this quilt some variety.

Karen Harris, of -ize on design
Modern Yardage October Feature Designer

Karen's work is modern and bold. She loves shapes and the space between shapes. Second only to shapes is her love of color. Karen says, "It is my goal to be the 'go to' place for all things big, bold and graphic. My prints and patterns are always abstract by design. Everyone gets to identify what they see in the design; it makes each design very personal to the individual. It makes the design more of an experience than just an aesthetic and I love that. I develop my unique motifs and silhouettes from my original pen & ink drawings…and translate them into energetic two-dimensional and three-dimensional art for products and spaces.
(Information taken from the Modern Yardage Newsletter).

Poetry in Motion, Autumn Breeze Colorway

I hand stitch with Aurifil 12 wt. thread around each hexagon to help color pop the quilt! The Modern Yardage fabric took a lot of abuse from my needles, hoops, and scrunching. It took it and held up great. Much better than most fabrics. I was also impressed that there was very little or no fraying! Which is awesome! I will definitely use this fabric in the future and I hope you will too!

What is up in the boon docks

Hello welcome to In The Boon Docks
Things have been a little busy around here and I still cannot talk about it for a few more days. I have created something can you guess?

Craftsy has a new class I signed up for late last night. Camille Roskelley - Playful Piecing Techniques! You get 4 downloadable patterns! I like Craftsy courses because I can watch a little, do a project in the course, and then come back weeks later and step back in where I left off. I love Camille's Swoon pattern and her book Simply Retro. I will share what I learn. If anyone signs up let me know and we can have a little show!

Sew We Quilt t Blog Hops

In November, I am participating in both of these hops and I have some great giveaways coming your way! I hope you will join me for a little fun!

The big Halloween dance is Friday night! My husband and I always like to go to what the kids come up with each year and see the latest dance moves! Our guy is ready to dance all night to bad it ends at 8:00 pm.

May the force be with you!

Stitch On Prints October Giveaway

Stitch on Prints

Welcome to "In The Boon Docks" monthly hand stitching projects and Aurifil giveaway. Each month, I show you my latest stitching projects and those of some others that entered the month before. You enter and try to win Aurifil 12 wt. thread, which is perfect for putting those extras on any sewing project!

Fabric: The Grove Dusk, The Grove Decor, Birch Fabrics
Machine Thread: Aurifil 50 wt. White
Hand Stitching Thread: Aurifil 12 wt. #3910 (Lemon Ice variegated)
Hand Stitching: purse and strap
I just love this yellow!

As you can see in the photo above, I sewed on my lines before attaching the strap to the purse. This way the knots are not seen once attached! A single strand doubled and knotted.

To achieve the stitching around the top of the handbag go threw the hole in the bottom of the lining. Start in the corner and stitch, hiding the knots between the outside and inside fabrics. Then sew your lining closed. Giving you a more professional look to your handbag.

Sharing Space

A few of the items shared by participants in last months giveaway! Enjoy checking out others links in this giveaway. A lot of very talented people enter the giveaway for Aurifil the best thread on the market!
