Welcome Everyone!

Hi, my name is Lisa and this is were I write about living in the boonies, sewing, crafting, animals, and raising kids. I love blog hops and participate in at least one a month plus I have two sponsored giveaways each month.

If you are new, a follower, part of this hop, or part of the

This is Madam Samm's @ Sew We Quilt
last blog hop of the year! But I am already signed up for the first one in the 2014. It really has been a great year making all kinds of creations for the blog hops! Thank you Madam Samm for being such a great coach! I would also like to thank
Vickie @ More Star's in Comanche

for being our head cheerleader for this hop!

Turkey's Anyone

Every year we eat Thanksgiving Dinner at Mammaw & Pappaw's house and each year we are digging through drawers for enough pot holders for all the food to be put on the table. Recently, while destashing I found this Thanksgiving & pinecone fabric and thought I would make some pot holders for Mammaw. I went out and bought a few yards of Insul-Bright and Warm & Natural cotton batting, by The Warm Company, and went to work.

First I made (4) small pot holders!
Then I had a bright idea!
We needed a giant pot holder, so what about a runner with Insul-Bright in between (4) layers of cotton batting, to put the hot food on the table! It would look nice and would take care of the problem.

Roosters & Chickens

I fell in love with Urban Farm and bought it to make a quilt for David but Hubby said it had to many flowers! I have held onto it for the perfect project and when I found out about the blog hop I knew this was it!
It just needed a few more birds!

By adding a rooster and a few hens with eggs (of course) using appliqué. Each row of hens has their own rooster! Now, hubby really loves this quilt and so do I. The light was fading and I needed a photo before the sun went down so you may see a few wonder clips from my unfinished binding (12"). What is a girl to do! Get the picture when the light is there that's what!

Have you done this?

Pick! Pick! Pick!

Thought I would get some quilting done while David was at church this evening. I have to admit I usually use a long arm quilter to finish the quilts I make but lately I have become braver after watching Youtube videos. I have done 3 baby quilts so far and never had this happen!
This quilt is for the blog hop:

Going on right now @ Sew We Quilt , (lots of great stuff & giveaways), My day is November 25th, so I have to quilt and bind it fast. I thought maybe I hadn't pinned it right but no, I lift up the quilt to look under it for a real mess and see this instead!

I sewed the quilt to the tablecloth! I just had to laugh!
It was time to stop for the night!

Everyone messes up, you are not alone!

Have a great week!

For The Boys Blog Hop

For The Boys Blog Hop

Welcome to In The Boon Docks

For those who do not know, I was enlisted in the US Navy for 9 years. I got out after my second tour to raise my family. My husband retired from the US Navy after 20 years in 2005. My Father-in-law was in the US Army for 2 tours and my youngest daughter did 1 tour in the US Army. Last Friday, we went to a ceremony at David's school honoring the Veterans in your family. The photo below shows us all with David he was so happy we all showed up except Mamaw (feeling sick) did 1 tour in the US Army.
So we are a Military family.

Now I know this is about boys but David insisted that Zoey be included and she makes a great head model. As you can see the adjustable head wrap (We call them do rags), one size fits all!

My husband's old do rags are falling apart so I decided to make him a few new ones. These are much quicker to make if you serge them but I just used a zig zag stitch on the seams. A do rag is worn underneath a motorcycle helmet or to keep you hair out of your eyes. These two were just made with scraps leftover from making quilts.

David came home and had to try them both on himself and Zoey. They both fit my husband, really I promise! He is just unavailable for a photo! Sorry ladies!

Please visit the other bloggers for today and see more great ideas for all the guys in your life!

Family Friendly Restaurant But Change Your Babies In The Car

Family friendly restaurant but change your babies in the car!
As many families travel during the holiday, I thought I would warn you!

While traveling home Zoey was fussy as we left the hospital after dark and traveling West on I64. We decided to stop at a new Burger King we had seen in Winchester to eat. I grabbed a few baby things from the car to diaper and feed her before I ate. Much to my surprise I found no changing station in a week old store and was more surprised when the Assistant Manager informed me that Burger Kings do not install Baby Changing Stations in there stores! An item that could easily be purchased for less than $200.

Not worth the business they loose from young families and grandparents Burger King!

Update!
My daughter was transferred to University of KY Hospital. The Pseudo cysts on her pancreas are small and do not need to be removed at this time. She got home yesterday and is resting comfortably. In the mean time we have little Zoey back with us for care and love.

Leave a comment if this is common practice for restaurants and which ones! I think this is pitiful that a large franchise would not require at least one in the Ladies room. But I know a few single Dads who are raising children in diapers. Unless something changes our whole family decided to eat in restaurants Zoey is welcomed at even if she is at home!
I am interested in your opinion!
