ALYOF February 2015

Image
ALYOF February Finishes My goal for February was to piece a quilt, which I did. But instead of being the top it became the back. I have really had a hard time writing this post. Usually I am writing about a quilt I have done and showing you everything but today I can't! I did have a lot of fun making it. Freespirit has really created a quality fabric! Bright beautiful colors. I love the feel of the Modern Solids. The perfect thickness. Probably not the right word for it but they are. When you make something out of them you know it will last and last. I know you can understand that! Will I use them again! YES, I love them! (100) 5" squares of 75 colors is a dream come true for this lover of color Denyse Schmidt's DS Modern Solids Charm Pack This quilt ended up as a backing for another quilt and is very simplistic but meaningful to me! I also sewed the front but I can't share it. One day maybe but not today! Almost as soon as it was done it was whisked away

Iron Tote/Mat

Image
Getting Retreat Ready I bought this pattern about 5 years ago thinking it was a great idea! I really needed one! It drives me nuts to go to a class and everyone is waiting around one iron. Never again will I be standing wasting sewing time for an iron and when I am done - button it up and go home. I am going to my first retreat with Quilter's Square Super excited! Now I just need a free pattern for a cutting mat/ruler holder! If you know where a free one is please leave a comment! Do you have a little binding basket? You should, then it doesn't roll across the room! Your dog, cat, children don't unroll it playing catch! I used (2) outside fabrics (2) layers of cotton batting (1) layer of Insul Bright The pattern called for a heat resistant pad on the inside fabric but I did not have any So I used what I had on hand with the Insul Bright! Nice place to press my pieces! Oh no! I did something wrong but what? How to fold the Iron Tote/Pressing Mat together? Kaye Wood sh

Le Challenge

I started this Noodlehead Super Tote at Thanksgiving and then a whole lot of things happened so it wasn't until the end of January that I got to get it finished. I was going desperately through my pictures looking for anything I might have made that had dots! It hit me the Super Tote had Cotton+Steel Basic fabric with dots on the inside! Then I had to figure out when I finished it to make sure the time frame was right! I am so glad it is! I am joining in the Le Challenge #19 - Dots this month! Yippee! I love the monthly challenge! You might like it to and they have a monthly prize you can win! I enjoy looking at what everyone has made, it is not just for quilters but everyone who crafts! Please click on the blue link above and check it out! If you signup for their (Lucy & Nat) email you can find out what the challenge is for next month and join in! Moon Shine, Deer Me, Tula Pink, is one of my favorite fabrics making it was difficult to mail the tote to my cousin

As my goal for February 2015 I am go to take all these lovely colors and piece a quilt top! I am in love with Denyse Schmidt Modern Solids , if you have followed this blog for any length of time I always use a certain solid but that has changed since I felt this charm pack. Love this orange (It is perfect for a background)! The design is in my head and scribbled on a piece of scrap paper! So I am ready, before March I will have it done! (100) 5" squares of 75 colors is a dream come true for this lover of color Denyse Schmidt Modern Solids I saw this pattern tonight over at noodlehead showing the totes her and her family made, it's not one of her patterns (surprise) it belongs to the talented (Then I borrowed her photo to show you)!
