ALYOF January 2015 Finish

My ALYOF January Goal and Finish

My goal this month was to finish the Noodlehead Super Tote, I started at Thanksgiving and now have! I am finally getting it in the mail this afternoon! I can't tell you how much I love this bag and hope to make myself one soon. It is so well made and the perfect bag to show off your favorite fabric and carry all your knitting, sewing, or books around in!

I totally recommend this pattern!

It has so many pockets inside and a big pocket on the outside!

2015 Sampler Blanket (Quilt)
Block 1 January

My friend Rie at
Crafty Rie
started this monthly get together.
If you click on the blue link that says
Crafty Rie you can read all about it.

As you can see you can choose
what you make and how you make it!
My favorite way to work.

I will be using Cotton+Steel Basics
and Robert Kaufman Kona Solids on
My Sampler Quilt.

For January I decided to do one of my favorite blocks
Scrappy Trip Around The World (Blue words are the link to pattern)!

It is very simple and made out of 2 1/2 strips.
You can make quite a beautiful quilt
using these blocks but since this is a
sampler blanket/quilt each month
I will choose a different block with a link
or directions on how to make it just in
case you want to try a few new blocks!

If you find you really like making Scrappy Trip Around The World blocks
check out the flickr group Scrappy Trip Along - Bee
, next signups will be February 1st. The mail date is not until April 15th, so it give you plenty of time to make 5 blocks! I have participate for the last year and will continue until I have a King size quilt.

Here is what I have so far on the one I am doing in the Bee for our bed! Fingers crosses I will have enough by the end of 2015!

Quilters Square Retreat

Quilter's Square Quilting Retreat
(859)278-5010

March 5, 2015 - March 7, 2015

I am so excited to share the information about this retreat
in hopes that maybe a few of you
in the Ohio/West Virginia/Kentucky area might come too!

Natalia Bonner of
Piece N Quilt will be teaching there! Whether it’s working on an intense show quilt or a simple baby quilt, Natalia has become a real quilting addict. She has won numerous awards for her work and has been featured on Moda Bake Shop, in Quiltmaker Magazine and American Patchwork & Quilting Magazine, and in books such as Fresh Fabric Treats, Modern Blocks and Sweet Celebrations with the Moda Bake Shop Chefs, Modern Quilts From the Blogging Universe. Natalia is the author of Beginner's Guide to Free-Motion Quilting and co-author of Modern One-Block Quilts & Cabin Fever

Natalia will do a lecture/trunk show from her books, Beginner's Guide to Free-Motion Quilting and Modern One Block Quilts. She will also teach Beginner's Free-Motion Quilting and Eight O' Clock (a quilt from her book Modern One Block Quilts).

Quilter's Square first ever quilting retreat at

Cliffview Resort at Red River Gorge

The cost is $350 and includes: 2 nights stay, class fees, and all your meals

Three days to hang out with such talent will be so much fun!

I am not receiving compensation for this recommendation! I am paying for own ticket and bringing my husband. It is such a beautiful spot that my Husband has agreed to come along and hang out.
Not with us but at the resort!

Natalia Bonner's Bio and book photography borrowed from the blog Piece N Quilt

I hope you will come and join us!

Call Quilter's Square at (859)278-5010 to make arrangements to come!

Let get together in March and Create and be unique - Lisa

No Goals Yet but

Update!
My Husband is doing much better and has began cardio rehab this week and he can drive again! Independence! I hardly ever drive and never far from home. For us both to be dependent on others for rides has caused us both headaches.

After years of having a blog I decided to get business cards.
They came in the mail today with my new logo on them!
I got them from
Vistaprint for less than $20.
Vistaprint has a commercial out in the USA
that gives you a code for $9.99 business cards.

So if you been thinking about it Vistaprint
does a great job for cheaper than the
other guys.
(My opinion, no money or discounts involved)!

I also received this beautiful stack of 1/2 yards Wild and Free by Maureen Cracknell Handmade that I purchased from Quilter's Square!

Speaking of Quilter's Square in Lexington, Ky,
they are going to have a retreat in March and
I am going to go and see what a retreat is all about!
It costs $350 which is less than any other one I have looked into.

Take a look Quilter's Square Retreat

Trying to stay on track
with Bronchitis
(I have coughed so much my ribs hurt)!
Stinks!
The antibiotics are working!
It is just taking so long!

Our David is well and back in school!

I miss talking with everyone! The cold is here - below 0 tomorrow!
Bundle up your babies if you have to take them out!
I threw in extra hay for my hens! Check on your outside animals and make sure they have water (it freezes)! I know this sounds like a dumb reminder but you would be surprised!
Stay healthly!

ALYOF 2015 January Goal

Happy New Year!
Our household leave 2014
with our sickness and begin
2015 on a healthier note!
Everyone here including myself are all feeling much better!

I really enjoyed participating in
A Lovely Year Of Finishes 2014
with
Melissa of Sew BitterSweet Designs
and her partner

Shanna of Fiber Of All Sorts!
I admit I did not always make my goal
but mostly it helped me keep on track!
So onward I will go and join up
for the bi monthly check-ins for another year of
A Lovely Year of Finishes 2015!

ALYOF January Goal

My goal this month is to finish the Noodlehead Super Tote, I started at Thanksgiving as a gift for my Cousin's Wife Teresa, she is such a nice person, and like many of us is always carrying around a project she is working on. Poor lady didn't get a Christmas Present because I was to busy tending to my recovering Husband. My wonderful cousin went home after Thanksgiving and came back again to help us when my husband came home from the hospital and did my Honey Do List, he is just like a brother - the best a girl could have! Jessie I love you!

I bought the kit at Craftsy on sale and changed the fabric to more suit the person I was making for out of my stash. I find Craftsy a great place to buy kits and supplies (just so you know they do not sponsor this blog)!

If you have followed this blog very long you know I love Tula Pink! What made me use the Deer is my cousin comes every year to hunt to keep the freezer full! So every time she looks at this bag she will know how much I love her or not, but that was my intent.

I really love this pattern! It has a lot of cutting and as you sew it and it become a very professional looking bag I just hope I can make the inside look as good as the outside! I think Teresa will be very happy with her gift even late!

If you have a blog you should join us with your goal and link up at Sew BitterSweet Designs you can win monthly prizes but best of all you can meet new blogging friends and see a lot of really neat stuff people are really making!

Thank you for stopping bye and looking around!
I hope you find something that interests you!
Create and be unique,
Lisa
