On Another Note

On Another Note - came about from my wandering through Facebook, Instagram, Blogs, and all over the internet. I often find something I want to share but don't have a real post to build around it so for now I will post them under this heading.

I found this on Instagram and jump for joy because it is awesome and FREE! Hunter's Design Studio | Cool patterns + sassy stuff! And the home of We Are $ew Worth It!

So click on the link above or take a look on instagram at Sam Hunter Sam @ Hunter's Design Studio (@huntersds) • Instagram photos and videos

I was very crushed when the ladies who ran A Lovely Year Of Finishes decided to stop their monthly linky party for goal setting. I tried each month to participate and it just didn't always happen. But it was a great Linky and I enjoyed visiting different blogs and seeing what was going on. Great way to figure out trends that way.

Well yesterday, I found out Heidi of Red Letter Quilts: One Monthly Goal: OMG Inaugural Launch! has started OMG and it runs pretty much the same way. So, I will be adding it to my sidebar and try to be a little better at posting 7 days at the beginning of each month and during the last 7. Looks to be fun.

Moda has a new book out Moda All-Stars All in a Row! The designer blog hop just ended but you can find all their rows on Facebook Allinarowquiltalong Moda and Martingale are going to have a contest! One I am considering entering! You might want to join along too! To read more take a look here (30) Allinarowquiltalong on Facebook! All the proceeds from the book will be going to feed hungry children! Which has me wanting to buy the book, so why not make some rows to enter the contest on Facebook. The sad part about the contest is it is just for the US and Canada.

The money from the book sales will go to the organization below.

I am in Kentucky staying in the hospital with my daughter. Routine stuff but We will be her. Thank you! Lisa

Word for 2016

Back in December when I saw the post on this linky party at Patty's blog Elm Street Quilts: Happy 2016! Word16 begins I really wanted to participate! Time is limited, but the more I thought about it the more determined I became to do a mini. What WORD would describe what I wanted to do this year. Going into my fourth year as a blogger I have gotten opportunities that I would never have had without blogging. Making quilts and projects for designers and companies is like a dream come true for me. For almost 4 years, I have hopped all over Blogland trying to gain followers and keep it interesting. This year I am going to do that and work on making things to beautify our home. I look at people like Lori Holt's Bee In My Bonnet home and gasp with delight. From quilts to curtains you will see things you will want to make.

Home is not just a house but a place filled with love

Home is were the heart is...

I want my home to be beautiful and inviting with handmade items that reflect our eclectic tastes.

I first began this project in high gear. Running through fabrics and thread but when I was done I was disappointed with my work. My little quilt looked messy.

Does that ever happen to you? I had sewn my binding on the back and rolled it over to machine sew on the front. As you can see, I was a bit rushed and sloppy. After looking at it for a week I decided it was unexceptable to leave it like that. I got my seam ripper out and spent a good hour or two removing the binding. I know it is small but I had to remove the stitching on the front and again on the back.

Now it looks a little better and I have it where I can see it each morning to remind me what projects I need to look for in the future. I am hoping more followers will see a little home in my blog and stop by and visit awhile.

It is still a little warped but so am I. The girl on the from reminds me of myself daydreaming. Being in the military back when I young I was always daydreaming of home. Home then was my Grandmothers in Athens, Texas.
This mini quilt is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Print Fabric is Simple Life, Tasha Noel, Riley Blake & the solids are Kona by Robert Kaufman
Thread for the piecing, straight line quilting, and the embroider word is Aurifil 50 wt. #1158 Med. Grey
I am now happy with the end result it is small but it has a big message on it for me. Maybe by next Christmas I'll be showing you excellent photographs of my home and you will say "wow"! I can hope!

I was really impressed with this article and thought you might enjoy it too!

6 Ways Blogging Will Change Your Life – RUN WRIGHT. So many positive things have happened in my life due to becoming a blogger almost 4 years ago. I have grown as a person because I wanted to enter a giveaway! Kind of funny how it all worked out.

You can be the best piecer but learning to quilt can be very difficult. That is why I love straight line quilting with Aurifil 50wt. thread at a 5.0 stitch width. It is very forgiving! Aurifil 1158 Meduim Grey matches Kona Steel perfectly.

Triangles on a roll

This pattern was the first time I used Triangles on a roll, available at the Fat Quarter Shop. Easy to use inexpensive product!

Each 2 1/2" rectangle makes (4) half square triangles! I ordered the 2" finished size to use with this pattern. The 2" is the finished size (size once sew it into the block)! I hope that explains it.

You can make 800 HSTs with one roll! I love them for making 4 or more perfect hsts. I say that because using the sheet make them perfectly cut for use. It goes really fast and as you can see I made a few extras trying out Triangles On a Roll. They are worth the small cost for perfection.

Thank you for stopping by and please take the time to visit the other blogger's for today! I will be back next week with another Top Ten Video! Lisa

These are my favorite things I made this year! Lots of small things due to all the health issues in my family! This year everyone better stay healthy! Through it all I loved sewing each item and more it was a great stress relief.

I sewed clothing, quilts, bags, pillows (a few), and pincushions!
