Dare to Dresden
Dare to Dresden Blog Hop
Welcome to "In The Boon Docks", I am Lisa and I am forever creating something! You never know what you might find when you stop in here. Today is Day 3 of the Dare to Dresden blog hop sponsored by Madam Samm @ Sew We Quilt and Cheerleader Christine @ Quilt Monster In My Closet Thank you both for your excellent advice and giving us all a place to showcase our work!
I have lived off-line since January 10th due to the living in KY with my daughter and her fiancé waiting for the arrival of my granddaughter. I then stayed to help my daughter for the last week. I arrived home today around 6 pm. I had my sewing machine and a few thing but I didn't have my dresden ruler so my first attempt at making my own I went a little wrong. So I chopped off the triangle point and started again.
These cutting mats (3 in a pack) are cheap and great for making templates! You might want to pick up a pack next time you go to Walmart!
See this is how they look when you fold them right sides together and sew the top! It doesn't work if you cut them into that shape when you start.
Sew them side by side right sides together!
I picked up 5 yards of teal decor weight fabric in a shop in KY (no other info available, just rolled up with a price tag) to use as background fabric. The dresden plates fabrics are Metro, Half Moon Modern, by Moda and Type, by Julia Rothman, Windham Fabrics.
Now for the giveaway!
This truly fantastic teal pouch with a red zipper and 2 dresden plates on the front, which will finish at 12 1/2" h. x 15" w., it is lined in the same teal fabric, with a boxed bottom. I hope you like it! It would make a great travel bag!
This giveaway is open to everyone, just like this blog so no matter where you reside you can enter and I will mail it to the winner. If you are a no-reply blogger please leave an e-mail address in your comment. If I cannot contact you - you cannot win!
1. Leave a comment telling me (yes or no) if you have ever sewn a zipper into something and what it was?
The reason is I am curious. I have quilted for 6 years now and never sewed a zipper or a pouch until this month. It makes a nice gift and it really not that hard. But me I was scared to death to try one. I could make all kind of purses but if it had a zipper, I wouldn't even think of making one! Now, I love making pouches.
2. If you are a follower you get an extra comment entry because you earned it this month. If you are a new follower please write - "new follower" in your comment.
This giveaway will close on February 3, 2013 at midnight and a winner will be chosen randomly on February 4, 2013. It will be announced on this blog and the winner will be notified by e-mail.
Thank you for stopping by today, hope you come back again soon. Now hop on over and visit the other bloggers scheduled for today! There is plenty of inspiration and more giveaways! Lisa
