What do you call a personal post
Dear Family, Friends, and Followers,
My family is going through quite a bit these days.
My husband had a heart attack a week ago.
I have left the hospital once to wash myself, a load of clothes,
charge the phone, and sleep once.
I take so much for granted with my spouse
and the realization I could loose him
in just a minute is unbearable.
Nothing but family matters at this moment.
A husband who will be released
from the hospital barely able to walk or breath
terrifies me. Open heart surgery with 6 bypasses
is a lot for a body to go through.
He has months of recovery to go through
but he is a strong man and we have faith!
While at the hospital I found out about a Nurse
who makes Open Heart Pillows
for the Cardiac Stepdown Floor.
Nurse Brenda does this on her own time
and recruits others to help her make pillows for the patients.
When you have your chest cracked for open heart surgery
it is very painful to cough, hiccup, and just breath!
Holding the pillow against the surgery incision
reminds the patient not to reach out
and push or pull with their arms.
It also helps during coughing
after being removed from the ventilator.
Lastly, it provides comfort to the
patient during a very traumatic time.
Since at this time, I have no time to sew but want to pay back
just a little for all the that pillow has done for my Husband.
While the laundry was washing I dug threw my stash
to donate 15 yards of fabrics,
a large spool of my favorite thread, Aurifil, of course and
a package of ThimblePads!
Thank you Brenda for going the extra mile!
If your looking for a helpful project
contact your local hospital Cardiac Ward and
make these wonderful pillows!
Thank you for waiting for me!
Our family could really use your prayers and good thoughts!
Love
Lisa
Oh, that is a very sweet nurse! Hugs to you Lisa - you can do it, even if you feel like you are on autopilot, you will get thru this, so will your husband as he has an amazing wife by his side!
ReplyDeleteMy prayers are with you and your husband, Lisa. We do take so much for granted.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are with you and your husband, Lisa. Sending positive energy to you both.
ReplyDelete)))hugs(((
Sending good thoughts your way for a speedy recovery for your husband. What a special person to make those pillows!
ReplyDeleteThoughts and prayers to you and your husband.
ReplyDeleteOur hearts and thoughts and prayers are with you and your husband and your family. The hard things make us stronger somehow, but it's a tough road ahead. We'll be thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteSending prayers and positive thoughts to your Randy! Just in case the doctors haven't said anything, it is not uncommon for bypass patients to have a stroke after open heart and/or bypass surgery. My sister and brother-in-law found out the hard way after his bypass surgery. Surprise!! The doctor was quite nonchalant about it, saying, yeah, that happens a lot. I would want to be warned, so I could be on the lookout. I hope I haven't unnecessarily terrified you! He survived both the surgery and the stroke. He has since passed, but he was in his 80's and had lived a good life. I will be thinking of you, too, and hope the recovery treats you both gently!

My thoughts and prayers are with your husband to have a speedy recovery. Please take care of yourself too, as he'll need your supportive arms to hold him tight as he gets through this. Sending you a big ol' virtual hug!
ReplyDeleteLisa, I send you lots of strengh and prayers from Switzerland!!!! Please take care of him, but also if you, because he will need you! I think of you, and yes, it is terrifying that life can change from one second to the other, I am always reminded of that everytime when the boys are nearly hurt while playing....
ReplyDeleteHuge hugs my dear
Judy
Sending hugs and prayers for both of you, Take it one day at a time and you will both get through it. You are stronger than you think and that strength will get you through this. The nurse is wonderful to make those pillows, be sure and let her know we all think so.
