Found Singer in Original case
Well I hope I have made a good deal. A neighbor down the road was having a Yard Sale. This was her lamp stand! It is filthy as you can see, so if you know what to use to safely remove grime off a sewing machine, HELP. This is a Singer G4146019, patent date - June 14, 1910. My wedding anniversary is June 14th, I think that is why hubby agreed on the $75 cost. It needs some love that is for sure and a manual, which as soon as I post this I will be looking to buy one. You can find everything on the internet right?
If you have any advice please share! I am really excited hopefully not for nothing. Know a good place to get parts, I want to know. I already know that I need a little rubber part that goes on by the bobbin winder, it is dry rotted. Have a great weekend and always check in those lamp stands. Lisa
I'm sew happy to see yet another beauty saved.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
How neat! I personally don't know anything about the sewing machine, but I believe that Connie at http://www.conniekresin.com/ has several old Singer machines. Maybe, she can help you out.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! I love picking up different machines when I can see a new life in their future.
ReplyDeleteI have ordered a manual from a woman who has a bazillion..Only problem is, it's at our other house and I won't be going until next Friday..I will try and locate the info from the source that I got it from. I will be back and let you know.
Here is an email address for a man that specializes in vintage machines. He had a manual for my treadle. He may also be of some help to you.

ReplyDeleteThank you all so much! You are all so helpful! XX Lisa
ReplyDeleteFunny Lisa,,,I think I own that machine (I'll have to lift the lid, but I'm sure it's mine.) Funnier still, this came through my email last week, and I was looking around.

I'll look at my machine (If it's mine, I have the manual and every attachment made for it, as well as a hubby who kept it going for me for years & years--and is going to again--I just haven't told him!)
Beauty in the rough----so happy to save such an antique. Be sure and show how it cleans up. I have seen a blog that collects and restores old machines, if I can find it again I will send you the blog address. Meant to be yours June 14th, how coincidental is that?
