Selfish Sewing Week Day 1
Today is Day 1 of Selfish Sewing Week @ Imagine Gnats. Rachael is a hoot, and I love participating in the things she thinks up! One reason, she and her friends are fun! The other reason is there are always plenty of giveaways going on. After you read my post hop on over to Rachael's and signup for them.
I just love Birch Fabric the way it feels so soft. They were nice enough to send me a little and I saved it for Selfish Sewing Week to make a few things for myself.
Isn't this fabric so "In The Boon Docks"?
It looks like it was just made for me!

What to make for myself was really hard to decide. I make lots of things but usually for other people. I got to thinking about what I needed. It occurred to me that I didn't have a coin purse. My change is just floating around in the pouch I carry around. This morning I found the Pretty Little Framed Purses Pattern from the Moda Bake Shop, .pdf in my ibooks, that I had downloaded and made me one. Yippee!
I went through my Kona Solids until I found a green to match my fabric for the lining. Then I looked in my thread box for the right color Aurifil 12 wt to sew my frame on #1231. They match perfectly. Can't get much better than that!
Tip: When sewing on the frame you start in the middle and down one side, back up, down the other side, and back up again. One strained of thread then looks like two and secure the knot under the frame.
Until Next Time,
Create and be unique,
Lisa
Lisa it looks great. Your fabric is really nice .
ReplyDeleteLooks really nice. Bet it feels wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that fabric you used hasn't been one of my favorites as I've seen it in the past on different blogs, BUT, it really does make a super cute coin purse. I really like it, and your green lining is great. I bet the brighter lining like that will help see inside rather than to use a darker color too.
ReplyDeleteI thought her blog hop for the Selfish Sewing was a good idea. We all so rarely make anything for ourselves.
