See You In September and Giveaways
Welcome back blog hoppers!
I really have missed you!
That includes you Madam Samm, Sew We Quilt (Head Couch) and
Shari Living With Purpose (Head Cheerleader)!
So glad to be back and hopping around myself!
Thank you both for all the work
you both did putting this one all together!
Hello Everyone!
You are at "In The Boon Docks" and I am Lisa!
Come on in and have a look around
and see what I spent the last couple months doing!
See you in September!
(It is now time)
Day 1
3 projects
Project 1
Riley Blake Designs Gingham.
I started searching through my stash
and found the blue medium gingham
and this great matching blue with white polka dots!
I used small blue gingham on the inside for the lining!
Strawberries are really popular
on Instagram lately and the red made for great contrast!
I found these two strawberries on a scrap of fabric and ironed on
HeatnBond Lite by therm-o-web.
Cut them out, peeled the back off,
and ironed them on my front panel!
Then using Aurifil 50 wt. threads sewed around the appliqué!
I even found some red gingham ribbon for the pull!
I think it makes for a cute pouch
to keep Miss Zoey's hair clips
and ponytail holders in!
This second pouch
I straight stitch machine quilted
for my cousin's wife!
Like some of you - she is a cat lover!
The second I opened the envelope
a friend sent me and saw this strip
of Cats I just knew I had
to make something for Teresa!
It is made from all scraps!
Hope she loves it!
I learned to sew curves by making the
Flowering Snowball Mini Quilt Kit!
I am still working on the hand quilting!
I made a few Coffee Koozie's with the Fat Quarter Shop!
I spent time reading,
and one of my favorites is
15 Minutes Of Play
by Victoria Findlay Wolfe!
I made a block of made fabric (her word) with the scraps
from the mini and then cut it into a hexagon!
Girls just need to play sometimes!
It was really a good time....so read it if you get a chance
Please stop by and see all the other bloggers for today!

I love the cute pouch! The diamond quilt is really beautiful and bold. I found your site because I am looking for a swap or sew along, but I can't quite tell if you have one going on. Please let me know if you do.
ReplyDeleteCute pouch. Love the fabric choices.
ReplyDeleteGreat pouch! Your other projects turned out well, too... Looks like you had a productive summer :)

ReplyDeleteI am busy working on projects that I will enter in the Rush Hour blog hop, ssshhh, secret!
I've been trying to finish things for the whole year. I'm working on two quilts, a king size one for a bed and a christmas lap quilt.
ReplyDeleteLisa, I Love the Pouches, and the Quilt too!! 15 Minutes of Play I'll have to check that out. What have I been creating? Well you will see on Friday when it is my turn in this exciting Hop!!
ReplyDeleteHuggs, Nancy
Great projects! You have more motivation then I do. I am doing a block of the month over at quiltdoodledesigns. But most of the summer was spent stocking up on craft supplies and pool time :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, my day on the Hop is September 11th so can't say too much but have been completing projects that I started earlier in the year. Love yours so cute. Hugs, Susie x
ReplyDeleteI've been traveling. I took a trip to see my daughter in Albuquerque for two weeks. Then I was off to London which included the Festival of Quilts. Now, at the end of the month I'm off to Albuquerque for three weeks while the other grandma goes to Israel and then I have a lumpectomy when I get home. I've been doing an 5 minute education segment for my guild each month. One month I made a paper pieced bra to bring attention to breast cancer and show that it can be fun to make a quilt about it. I joined the programs committee at guild. I had the pleasure of "hosting" Laura Wasilowski about and had a 2.5 day retreat with her. We had a fusingly good time. So, even though I haven't finished a project, I have been involved in quilting. I can hardly wait for the hop. I want to join in soon.
ReplyDeleteLove your strawberry pouch. I am making a periwinkle quilt. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteDear Lisa,
ReplyDeletethanks for the give-away! I spent most time for our wedding on August 2nd. I've also sewn some little bags, some blocks for my Tula Pink City Sampler and started a Hexagon-Tetris-Quilt.
Greetings, Rike
I have been watching the rain fall. It was hot and humid here..... Or cold and miserable. Not really much going on. HA! I was working on my mystery BOM, on stitchery (on the hot days), I took up crocheting again (with little success, I must say...). I cooked with my sister. Enjoyed the rare sunshine and basically had a ball! Thank you for sharing your projects. I love them all.
ReplyDeleteOh those are all such super projects! But I admit....Miss Zoey's pouch has caught my eye and is definitely the favourite :)
ReplyDeleteYou have such cute projects! I've been making some birthday gifts, pouches and wallets mostly, this summer. Now I'd like to sew some holiday items. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAdorable pouches. I had heard of the made fabric and was not able to envision it. So thank you for sharing and loved seeing your hexi. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteyou can never go wrong with berries of any sort...great wee projects...sounds like you had a pretty full summer....nice to try new things.. nice to see you back

Your little purses are adorable! I also love the Snowball quilt. You did a great job of putting different fabrics and colors together for it!
ReplyDeleteCan never have enough pouches, bags or purses. Enjoyed your post, but decline to enter the giveaways.....too, too many projects ongoing now. But, thanks for the chance anyway.
ReplyDeleteYour pouches are so cute. Right now I am cleaning out our garage to make it into my sewing area.
ReplyDeleteYou've been a busy person and I love all that you've created! You've learned your lesson well with making the flowering snowball quilt. How awesome! Like you, I've been busy sewing, not only for this blog hop, but for the Rush Hour hop a well. It's been challenging to not post about my progress each day, but I'll be able to share soon enough. Thanks for sharing your wonderful creations with us today!
ReplyDeleteI really like the diamond quilt you used as a background for the pouch photos. You did a lovely job on it.
ReplyDeleteI love little zip pouches - room for such creativity and so useful. Thank you for sharing all your summer creations with us today.
ReplyDeleteYou made each project unique...nicely done!! I have yet to make a zippered bag...I have a fear of zippers.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Gmama Jane.
What is a girl to do with out a pouch or two. What great summer projects. Love the mini snowball quilt. I have been working on my little project for the hop this summer see you Sept. 5th.
ReplyDeleteThe pouches are sew cute! and that quilt is awesome! I always hated sewing curves until I made a turtle quilt. They aren't as hard as I had expected. :)
ReplyDeleteI really love Victoria Findlay Wolfe's book 15 minutes of play. So inspirational. Your little pouches are so cute! Great for those hair ties!
ReplyDeleteI've been making a split snowball quilt and a mini from the corner cut-offs. I really like the flowering snowball quilt! I may just need to try it!
Love the quilt and little pouches. I had to stop and think what I've accomplished this summer and it surprised me: I made a 2 table runner for friends, two pair of shorts for my daughter, some washable wipes, coasters, and covered a cushion for a chair. It's a good thing I take pictures with my phone, or I probably wouldn't remember. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've had a wonderful summer of creative quilty goodness. I especially love your flowering snowball - so cool! Same here. I've been dreaming, designing, learning, teaching and making a bunch of stuff... which I'll highlight on my turn next week on this hop! It will be hard to narrow it down to three things...
ReplyDeleteHey Lisa
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a quite summer, but on the other hand a real busy one preparing all the projects for the first hop again in the season! You did a wonderful job, the small puches are great and the coffee cozie looks great, I saw the video on youtube but did not test it yet!
Love your pouches. The colors are so bright. Looks like your summer was busy. I have been busy too, working on finishing up projects.
ReplyDeleteI like your pouches! Every time I see some on a blog, I wonder why I haven't made those! I'm trying to add borders to finish up a quilt but my mother fell Sunday so I have been involved with her care since then.......nothing broken but lots of sore tissue!

ReplyDeleteI love the zippered pouch. Cute! Beautiful quilts.
ReplyDeleteAs for me--boring. I've managed to do nothing this summer (running around after my toddler grand-daughter, though!). Wouldn't have traded the fun times we had for anything!
I have been seeing all those strawberries on IG too! I love yours the best! It looks like it just jumps off the bag! GREAT SUMMER you have had...Thank you for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the flowering snowball :) thanks for sharing . Janita
ReplyDeleteLove your flowering snowball quilt. I'm recovering from hand surgery, so no sewing for a few more weeks, but I'm enjoying browsing the blogs and planning!
ReplyDeleteLove your flowering snowball quilt. I'm recovering from hand surgery, so no sewing for a few more weeks, but I'm enjoying browsing the blogs and planning!
ReplyDeleteYou have been a busy bee this summer, wonderful projects! I have been lazy but have lots of projects lined up for what I hope is a wet and snowy winter, we need the water. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI''ve been working on some Holiday table toppers that I didn't finish last year! Your pouches are cute and I love the quilt!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all your projects especially the cat pouch. Cute but tactful! I just finished up a wedding quilt with all curved piecing as well as just bound my english paper pieced grandma's flower garden (although my girlfriend thought they were gears!). Took 1 year of handwork!
ReplyDeletenridder@hurontel.on.ca
I am in the middle of a holiday table runner and throw. I am making a matching book bag for each to be the gift bag for each of these since they will be gifts for my sisters.
ReplyDeleteI love your pouches and quilt. I have spent a lot of the summer trying to keep the weeds down on my allotment. It has produced better crops this year. I am now sewing on Celtic Solstice by Bonnie Hunter. I need to get it finished before the next one starts.
ReplyDeleteGreat pouches and quilt! I spent my summer finished my daughter's wedding quilt, working on a challenge quilt for my longarm guild and quilting for customers. Oh yeah, and getting my daughter married on August 1!!!
ReplyDeletegreat pouches , making quilts here
ReplyDeleteI think both the pouches are really cute and I might just make one of them for our eldest great granddaughter, who is now in 1st. grade. I know she will love it. For Christmas, I am making table runners for the major holidays for kids and married grandchildren. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am in love with your pouches.
ReplyDeleteWhat I have been doing this summer aside from having a wonderful visit with our son home for a visit from Korea, is to slowly working on reorganizing my sewing room. I have given away fabric to the Quilt guild for our charity work and sorting through UFO's. Fun stuff.
cheers

This summer our quilt guild is getting ready for an october quilt show so most of the summer has been spent doing all of the stuff that I somehow volunteered to do! yessewingisfun@yahoo.com

ReplyDeleteWould love to make some of those little bags!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa! I am super into pouches too. I am thinking Christmas presents! Yours are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI am finishing a quilt for my nephew and starting a couple of others lol.
ReplyDeleteSweet pouches. I've been working on a 'walker' caddy for my friend who uses a walker most of the time nowadays. It's made with 30 repro fabrics and I added extra pockets along with a dresden plate, some hexies, and a couple of PP coffee cups. I deliver it to her tomorrow. :) BTW, she turned 90 in July and is so spry other than needing the walker for support.
ReplyDeleteLove that Flowering Snowball quilt! And in Cotton+Steel, too! ;) And the strawberries on your RBD Gingham project look so real!
ReplyDeleteWonderful summer projects!
Cute projects! I've been trying to keep up with a summer block of week and my garden--kind of glad they are both coming to an end!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet little Gingham zippered pouch. All of your projects are wonderful. Thank you sew very much for sharing and hopping. Creative Gingham Bliss...
ReplyDeleteLove the little pouches. Not much happening here in the sewing room this summer. Looking forward to the cooler weather so I can stay inside and sew.
ReplyDeleteVery cool pouch and great snowball mini quilt. Curves in quilts look awesome, but probably something I will never try. I guess I should never say never; who knows what I'll try in the future.
ReplyDeleteOh your quilt is so beautiful. I just don't know how everyone comes up with such unique ideas all the time. I have made 3 lap quilts to gift to 3 women I have worked with that are retiring. I have also had the pleasure of spending time with my kids before they had to return to school. I began to realize that that time is precious, so I'd rather spend time with them, than do much quilting this summer.
ReplyDeleteLisa, your pouches are just so cute. You have been busy this summer. I have been trying to finish up my last project of the summer. I really enjoyed your spot on the hop.
ReplyDeleteYour little totes are awesome. Wow those strawberries are vibrant. Very fun. Such fun projects. I'll have to check out that book!
