ReplyDeleteHmmm...my favorite birthday presents? Perhaps the all time favorite, wasn't actually my birthday present, it was my husband's--but we both benefitted greatly from that gift! LOL It was on my husband's first birthday, as a married couple, that our first cat "followed" him home! He stood outside our apartment door and asked me to come outside. There he stood with a dirt covered white kitten that had followed him home from the workout room in our complex. It was his birthday, how could I say no!? That white kitty was a wonderful, loving addition to our family. Definitely the best present any of us have received on our birthday!
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is in June and my sister's is in January. We are a bit older than you, from the days when toys only came on Christmas and birthdays, so, I always had great pool and summer toys! My poor sister had to go without or use mine.
ReplyDeleteYears ago we moved from the ocean to the mountains and heavy snow. My birthday present was a snowblower! It sure came in handy the next 25 years !

ReplyDeleteI got 1/2 a sewing machine for my 21st birthday (the other 1/2 was birthday and xmas money from family) from my parents. It was awful, but when I finally gave up on it, my Dad insisted he would pay for all of the replacement machine, which is, thankfully, brilliant.

I think my favorite Birthday gift is any one that is separate from Christmas since it is six days before Christmas. I'm not complaining that I celebrate birthdays with Jesus but His birthday just kind of outshines mine. But probably the best one was the one two years ago when my daughter gave me a jar of Prego Spaghetti Sauce and a pair of baby shoes---letting me know that I was going to be a grandmother!!!

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Lisa! I hope you have a great day planned for your special day.
ReplyDeleteI think my most favorite birthday gift was years ago, when all 3 of my boys were all under the age of 5. I had an awesome girl who babysat for me and she took all the boys to shop and buy me a gift with their allowance money they all had. (truthfully I gave her a bunch of change so they thought it was all their money but it was mine) She knew what I wanted so she steered them to that item in the store and they thought it was a great idea and all their own. It was a coffee carafe like you see in restaurants that has a spout and little button you push to allow the coffee to pour out and keeps it warm. I still have it today. Watching their little faces when I opened that present was the best thing about the birthday because they were each so proud that they bought that for me. I don't know if I've ever told them to this day that it was mostly my money. lol
Happy Birthday - hope it's a great one and thanks for your gift to us.
ReplyDeleteOne of my very favorite gifts was a set of Denise brand interchangeable knitting needles. I use them all the time and love them. This year my birthday is one the same day as my quilt guild's show, so I hope I win a ribbon for my birthday!

ReplyDeleteBirthday gifts are awesome... I usually drag mine on for a week or 2:) I just love spending time with family and friends and lots of cake:)
ReplyDeleteI dont' remember the "best" one... I do remember the worst one! My mom interchanged 2 gifts...and the one I wanted more than life itself, she wrapped in tissue paper so I could see it was my dream, only to open it in front of all my school mates ...and it was socks!
