Bella Skill Builder Quilt Along 2017 WIP Finish

Image
WIP Finish I was a blogger with the  Fat Quarter Shop For the Bella Skill Builder Quilt Along 2017 look here for more info My good friend, A local Longarmer, Irene Hensley, quilted it for me! All washed and ready to used. My grandson is happy to have it for his bed! It is really beautiful and I feel kind of  guilty it took 4 years to finish the quilting and  put a binding on.  This Summer I am going to see, how many more might be hiding around here! Do you have any WIPs just hiding out somewhere? Finish something, Always here, Lisa

Pouch - Rayos D’ Sol Pouch

Image
Welcome to In The Boon Docks I am Lisa Thank you for stopping by  and checking out my blog! Rayos D’ Sol Pouch Is available for free at Laura Raquel Quilts I chose prints from Sun Print 2021 Ordered from Alison Glass Shop The pattern is not complicated  Any beginner could complete it. It is well written and with great diagrams for completing the project! I love the professional look  and will make many more! I finally decided on the layout above! I do recommend trying out different fabrics ahead of sewing.  I wasn’t happy with my first front side  and ended up picking out my stitches and starting over! Could have saved myself some time  If I would have auditioned my fabrics beforehand! I had to stop and fix my machine in the middle! The stitches where messed  up and I had to fix the tension! You can see here (more picking stitches)! Art Theory was perfect for the bag lining. The Zipper Pull Is available from Alison Glass Insignia Bag Pull I really enjoyed making this project! A great p

To do these blocks you will need the book Jolly Bar Book Vol. 3 This weeks block is  Treasure Trove Page 66 Here is mine using  Blooming Bunch This fabric screams Spring to me! I love it! First I sorted out my Jolly Bar by color family! This helps you choose which ones you will use in the block Choose (8)   (if you have 4 color families such as I did, 2 of each)! If you look at the center of the finished block it should have  all (8) fabrics in it! That is how I knew I did it right. The  Perfect 10 ruler  is great for cutting  half inches and inches up to 10”s! It m

Quilty Pages Needlebook by Princess in a Pouch Designs

Quilty Pages Needlebook  by Sarah Gozzo Available on Etsy This is my needlebook! Available on her blog Quilty Pages Needlebook Princess in a Pouch Designs The pattern is made for anyone who sews beginners to advanced! It has a lot of ways to add your own spin on it! I knew the thing missing from all my other needlebooks  was a zipper pouch to keep my needle threader  and ThimblePads by Colonial Needle! You can get ThimblePads at the  Fat Quarter Shop I looked up on YouTube and watched a video on how to sew vinyl (Vinyl Zipper Pouch) the first  one that came up was by Erica Arndt It showed me what I needed to know. Since I was making this for myself I used my favorite Heather Ross fabrics! The zippers are good to hold any little things you don’t want to slip out! The butterfly pouch is in the pattern to hold  spools of thread, mine being Aurifil Thread of course! Aurifil is good for machine and hand sewing. A place to hold needles! The Heather Ross Spider is very old, telling the story

New England Motel Sew Along

Image
New England Motel Sew Along With Brimfield Awakening The sew along was fun and I really enjoyed using the pattern!  If you want to look at some blocks and finished quilts check out the hashtag #newenglandmotelsal on Instagram! After printing the pattern I used a ruler to add a 1/4”  and the recommend 1/2” on some sides! This really helped when it came to trimming the blocks! I have used Carol Doak’s  Foundation Paper  from the  Fat Quarter Shop for about 5 years! Print a block at a time (2 of each) or print a bunch and trim them but I recommend one block at a time! Get started  - I found the  Sewline Glue Pen  is best to glue that 1st piece on. (So worth the money) True story - I couldn’t find my Sewline so I used a kids glue stick!  Nightmare, it really slowed me down when I was removing the papers! Marking and using scrap bins, where really helpful. Lots of Heather Ross fabric is being used! I numbered my pieces to kept track of the outside pieces! Here you see the 1/2” added (make
