Stitch On Prints October Giveaway
Stitch on Prints
Welcome to "In The Boon Docks" monthly hand stitching projects and Aurifil giveaway. Each month, I show you my latest stitching projects and those of some others that entered the month before. You enter and try to win Aurifil 12 wt. thread, which is perfect for putting those extras on any sewing project!
Fabric: The Grove Dusk, The Grove Decor, Birch Fabrics
Machine Thread: Aurifil 50 wt. White
Hand Stitching Thread: Aurifil 12 wt. #3910 (Lemon Ice variegated)
Hand Stitching: purse and strap
I just love this yellow!
As you can see in the photo above, I sewed on my lines before attaching the strap to the purse. This way the knots are not seen once attached! A single strand doubled and knotted.
To achieve the stitching around the top of the handbag go threw the hole in the bottom of the lining. Start in the corner and stitch, hiding the knots between the outside and inside fabrics. Then sew your lining closed. Giving you a more professional look to your handbag.

ReplyDeleteI looked at Alex's Running Spools and the only thing I could think of while looking at it was that it was a terrible waste of thread!

ReplyDeleteI haven't accomplished any hand stitching as yet, but I have a baby quilt that is in progress that is waiting for me to do the stitching. I really like Carla's American Jane 9 Patch Baby Quilt and how she outlined each 9 patch with a different color. I'm doing the same thing on my quilt on http://tamichaulk.blogspot.com/2013/06/june-newfo-challenge.html.
