The Night Before A Baby Shower

My husband left early this morning to drive the 2 1/2 hours to our youngest daughters house to pick her up and bring her home. He was home in time to take David to basketball practice. My little girl is very uncomfortable being large with child, just 3 weeks left! While the guys were gone she decided I needed my hair dyed red and laughed and giggled while fixing me up. It was well worth it to see her happy! Then we worked on table decorations for the shower. These are Martha Stewart Lanterns that I bought at Ollie's (3) in a box for $5.99. We used glitter chipboard for scrapbooking ($1.29) and glued them on with tacky glue.

I made this little snuggle blanket using a picture from Amy Butlers Little Stitches for Little Ones. I should have used the pattern but I didn't! So, I learned "Minky" stretches when you sew it to cotton! Everything looked alright in the end but I wasn't so sure it wasn't going to become a UFO about 8:00 pm. My daughter thought those "Isabella" fat quarters were just to pretty to leave in my stash and the green minky was so soft. I don't know about you but I Just couldn't tell her no. Again, at the moment anything that makes her smile.

I remembered seeing somewhere about making the inside piece an inch smaller around. Sewing the left and right sides together, then top and bottom (leave and opening to turn). Sew up the hole. Press cotton over and sew all the way around on the cotton. It turns out about 29" x 29". At least when I got done that is what it was. The blocks started out 10 1/2" (9) and the "minky" was 29" square but as I said it stretches, next time it is fleece for me baby. I might also read the pattern and follow it! Lesson learned: daughter thinks it is beautiful - priceless

Thanks for stopping at "In The Boon Docks"! Tomorrow we are having the baby shower, I hope all goes well! Have a great weekend! Lisa
