The Tammy Project Bag Blog Hop
Day 2
Madam Samm of Sew We Quilt is a super talented lady and when I spotted that she had a free pattern she created available for this blog hop, I couldn't wait to sign up! She is also our "Head Cheerleader" but isn't she always! Gotta love her, she keeps us all busy and entertained! Thank you Madam for the great experience of creating my own Tammy Bag!
This bag is nice and roomy! Cupcake agrees with me!
It has 4 great pockets to hold my lovely Aurifil thread for a stitching project! Madam Samm's pattern was the answer to a pray!
By changing the piping around backwards, I could stitched it down with my machine. Of course, then I had to do a little stitching on the pockets to bring out the fabric design!
Now, I had a few problems because I used a heavier interfacing than was recommended when I went to put the lovely handle on! I almost through it away. Suggestion: follow directions! Instead, I turned it back inside out and removed the interfacing a 1/2" from the top at the seams! .
My next problem was sewing the handle into the bag! Here I have this bag I love and I open it up and see my sloppy stitches! My solution: I then went to the store and bought some Krazy Glue All Purpose Brush-On. Carefully brushing the glue on, using a little turning stick that is flat with a point to get the fabric to the top and shoving the fabric in all around the inner frame! Worked like a charm! Glue works fantastic!
"Gerald" is showing you he doesn't fit (he's about 13" tall) but everything else around him was inside the "Tammy Bag". It is very roomy and holds all my stitching things plus my buddy "Cupcake"!
Please visit the others on the list for today! It is amazing how people interpret the same pattern!

GIVEAWAY
Today, we have a sponsored giveaway from Noell of Half Pint Knits! I won "Cupcake the Hedgehog" from a blog giveaway, and I loved her so much that I bought Zoey, "Gerald the Giraffe". These precious soft knit toys are all create by Noell and for sale in her Esty Shop. So please take a moment to read her note to "In The Boon Docks" followers and friends. I recommend all her creations and plan on getting "Henry the Hedgehog" for David using the discount she gave us.
Hello! My name is Noell and I am the owner of Half Pint Knits. I am a married momma who just loves to knit! I am married to a wonderful man and together we have a 4 ½ year old son who keeps me on my toes all day, every day. I started knitting nearly four years ago after our son was born. I can knit just about anything but stuffed animals and toys are my favorite projects. And I bet you can guess who benefits quite a bit from my love of knitting toys! Not only does my son have many of my creations but other little members of our family do as well. In fact, that was how my Etsy store, Half Pint Knits, came to be. Last spring, I realized that I could be sharing my talent with little ones (and adults!) all over.
For this giveaway, I am offering Miss Tiana the Turtle. She is a lively little thing, let me tell you! Don’t be fooled just because she is a turtle. Miss Tiana is ready for adventure!
Miss Tiana was made using 100% cotton yarn. Her shell features bright colors of pink, blue, green and white. Her legs, head and tail are a light green color. She is stuffed with polyfil and has a pair of black safety eyes. She measures approx. 4 inches tall and 5 inches long from head to tail (measuring her from the bottom side.) Around her middle is almost 13 inches.
Also, as a special bonus, I am offering the readers of In the Boondocks a 10% discount for the month of June. Use 10BOONDOCKS at checkout to receive your discount! (Discount code expires of June 30th 2013)

ReplyDeleteYour bag is the perfect colors Lisa ! I had a bit of a problem with the handle too.....directions ?....what directions ? haha
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bag. Great fabric. Oh how cute was that little Cupcake inside your bag. You could add a strap to your bag if you wanted to because you know those little holes on the top of your frame are for adding a chain strap or you could do another kind of strap too. That would give you another option.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading about how you made your bag. Thanks for not only showing us your success by making this lovely bag, but telling us the tips you learned along the way. I like your colors and fabrics a lot! ... :) Pat

ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics you chose for your bag. I was thinking the same thing about the fusible interfacing. Gives it tons of body but perhaps needed to be cut down about a 1/2 inch smaller to start with??
ReplyDeleteYou really were able to pack a ton of things in your bag! THX for the giveaway chance.
I am a follower from a previous hop---or two! Have a great day, Lisa!
