Just a little purse for a girl

Image
We are off for a week to visit our oldest daughter at the beach! Our little David is excited to see his mother. Currently, she is the nanny for her best friends daughter, who turned 5 a few days ago. I chose to make up a paper pattern to follow. To show you how easy it is 4 fabrics and a homemade pattern. The fabric is Lecien - lovely Punch Girls, given to me by a very nice woman, Mary from the WVMQG. Sample fabric packs only has one piece of each print. So each part of this little purse is a different. I used a tiny magnetic snap. Which I deconstructed off a purse last month! Recycle! I am hoping she will like it! What little girl doesn't like Panda's? Just in case I but $5 in the change purse I made to go with it. Have a great week everyone! I am going to no WiFi land so possible no posts, mail anything until Monday. Until next time, create and be unique, Lisa

Le Challenge - Toffee

Welcome to In The Boon Docks! Hi! I am Lisa, wife, mother, grandmother, veteran, and artist. In a rural area of West Virginia, USA, my family and I, live with 3 dogs, 8 chickens, a squirrel, and miscellaneous deer (they live in our woods). We grow, can, and freeze, both fruits and vegetables. I will admit I am a awful cook but my husband is a culinary student. I love to blog, blog hop, swap, sew, quilt, crochet, knit, and just about any DIY project. I am a fabric and Aurifil thread lover! Hopefully, some of the things I write about here will interest you and keep you entertained. If so, please leave a comment occasionally and follow. Why am I telling you all this at the Monthly Le Challenge? I see a lot of new blogs each month and I figure if I don't know you, you probably don't know me! A little introduction into the happenings at "In The Boon Docks". Now for Le Challenge Here is a toffee photo I borrowed from Kessa's post! Looks yummy but a craft proj...

Vintage Dress or not?

Image
Vintage Baby Dress? I picked up this lovely little (size 9/12 months) handmade linen dress at Goodwill. My Mom and I think that it is old! If you have ever seen the fabric or pattern please let me know! A closer look at the print! My beautiful wiggly model came to visit for the weekend. I was so excited to see her wear The dress! Being handmade with no tag, I was uncertain if it would fit Zoey but it was worth $1.75 even it it didn't. One day when I have a sewing room I will hang it on the wall! It is just so cute. How's this picture? It is really difficult to photograph someone who is moving all the time. In this one I think I just wore her down. I am serious I would love to know anything about this fabric! Please leave a comment if you have seen this linen fabric. If you think it is new or old? Thank you for your help. Until next time, create and be unique! Lisa

Country Live In The Boon Docks

Image
Well this time of year it is hard to get much sewing done when it is harvest time. We have had so much rain here this season that the fruit trees are breaking under the strain of all the fruit. Two weeks ago we picked sour cherries and pitted and froze them. This week it is green beans. The vines are molding around the beans so it is pick them or loose them. In two days my mother and I picked three 5 gallon buckets full of green beans for my mother-in-law to can. That was only two rows of plants with lots of green beans. It is muddy hot work! It is amazing how the ones in the store all look so pretty and mine are covered in mud. But the hard part has just begun my MIL will clean and can 40 quarts before it is all done. Enough to feed two families all Winter without having to buy processed and loaded with preservatives store can beans. So it is worth every bit of effort put in by our two families. Do you do beans? How about Chickens? Sometimes it is good to stock your free ran...
