Week 3

Hello Everyone! I am really enjoying the linkups each week! So many beautiful blocks in all kinds of fabric combinations that you can view if you join the Facebook Group or follow the link to the Link Up Party. There will be (4) weeks over the next year when I will be a Blogger of the Week.

Week Three - Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler Quilt Sew-along Link Up Party - GnomeAngel. This week tutorials and From Marti Michell Quilting Blog: Belle Block, 1930s Farmer's Wife Sew-along, From Marti Michell Quilting Blog: Coral Block, Farmer's Wife 1930s Sew Along conversion charts were released for blocks 13 and 24! I have linked to each Blogger's Farmer's Wife post so if you need the tutorials later they will be here.

The Bloggers for Week 3:

Melissa of The Farmer's Wife 1930's Sew Along - #13 Belle - Paper Piecing Y Seams! - This tutorial is excellant!

Erin of Why Not Sew?: Block No.24 Coral - Farmer's Wife 1930s Sampler Quilt Sew Along

Angie of Belle is Block 13 of Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler Quilt - GnomeAngel and Coral is Block 24 of Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler Quilt - GnomeAngel

I used the Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) technique this week on both my blocks included in the book. I do not have much experience with FPP but I am learning doing this sew along. Practice, practice, practice, is the only way to master a skill. The solids are for both my blocks are Cotton Supreme Solids, RJR Fabrics and print for Belle (13) is an Andover scrap I have been saving forever. The print for Coral is from Tula Pink's line Eden. Do you ever do that? Save a scrap you find along the way? Keep it for just the right block! I don't even know the name. If you do let me know in the comments.

I only piece with Aurifil 50wt. thread! If your using the best fabrics you should use the best thread!

Block #13 Belle

  1. Your two latest block are great. I, too, save a little scrap I love for just the right fussy cut place. Tula's new Eden collection is so wonderful. Can't wait to see more of your blocks.
