2016 brought with it the end of my all time favorite TV series "Downton Abbey"! I was so bummed about it ending! I still keep hoping for a Christmas Special but I guess I'll just watch the series over the holidays!

Of course it wouldn't have class without the Violet Crawley, the ultimate Grandmama! Always finding ways to avoid a scandal! Can I just say "love her"!

Back to the giveaway! I'll pick a winner on Christmas Day! I have one set of 7 CDs for someone who enters this giveaway! It is International because I love all of you! Who ever wins through the Rafflecopter I will mail it to you!

Merry Christmas my friends and Happy New Year! If you don't celebrate my holiday but another "Seasons Greetings"! It has been a better year for our household than the year before but still a lot of ups and downs!

FPP Patterns

Kristy has some great Tutorials on her blog to help improve or teach you FPP Quiet Play: Tutorials I really enjoy foundation paper piecing and hope you give it a try! She has a few free patterns you can start with to see if you enjoy it and go from there.

I recently was in a swap doing foundation paper piecing (FPP) with Quiet Play patterns by Kristy. Her patterns are great for anyone from beginner to advanced and are available Quiet Play's Pattern Store | Craftsy . The way the swap worked was you picked your 3 favorite patterns and your partner would make you one of them, and you would do the same for someone else. In Secret swaps you making for one person and that person makes for someone else. I like this type it is a lot of fun!

My parnter had chosen two mermaids and another pattern! I chose the GeometricMermaid Paper Pieced Pattern | Craftsy design amoung the three Quiet Play Patterns she had in her mosaic. I was afraid right up until I finished it that maybe I had bitten off more than I could chew. This particular pattern has many tiny pieces.

I wasn't quite sure I could pull it off. I am amazed how easily it went together. The pattern writer knows her job. After taking it section by section, and the time to do it right, I got it completed and sewn into a pillowcase like she asked. Stretching your skills only helps to improve your overall sewing performance.

I was terribly excited when I got my top pick of the patterns I had chosen Geometric Sewing Machine Pattern | Craftsy . My partner Linda or Linda (@llsmail) • Instagram photos and videos did an excellent job on the color mixture and skill work, which I really appreciate! She can be my partner anytime! It looks so beautiful up on the wall I just love it!

Sorry for all the Screenshot photographs but I am having a bit of trouble with the software I blog with lately. If you have a good one please share!

Note about Swaps - Nothing hurts worse than to spend days and hours on a project then receive an item that is falling apart that someone threw together to make the due date. If you need help ask the hostess running the swap or the person you bought the pattern from do not just give up!

Marti Michell Mini Quiltmania

Marti Michell very generously sent all the Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler Quilt Sew-along Bloggers all the sets we would need to make the quilt and so I started using them. Marti Michell Mini Quilt Blog Hop - GnomeAngel The idea for the mini quiltmania was dreamed up by Angie of Gnome Angel to help the people in the Facebook group (26) Farmer's Wife 1930's Sampler Quilt Sew-along learn new ways to use the templates. Welcome everyone to my day of the EERIE NIGHTS Blog Hop! I want to thank the ladies who made this possible Marian, of Seams To Be Sew, It’s Creepy and It’s Crawly, It’s Eerie and It’s Spooky… | and Amy, of Sew Incredibly Crazy. Both ladies put in a lot of work to bring this hop to you! I am grateful that they included me and In The Boon Docks because I love Halloween!

I like to do things a little different around here in the boon docks of West Virginia. I have gotten into to "made by me" or "handmade clothing"! So for this blog hop I found this awesome Timeless Treasures Fabric, Fun-CG3540 that glows in the dark and the Grainline Studios "Scout Tee"! Well I may not glow as well as I would have liked but it does make others stop and look! I of course used my favorite Aurifil thread #5007 and it works great! The lovely gray sheen looks wonderful for the topstitching!

EERIE is me out in the cemetery to take these pictures for you! I went to visit our Aunt and Uncle on this chilly night!

If your interested in creating your own "Scout Tee" Scout Tee – Grainline Studio for paper or Scout Tee PDF – Grainline Studio for PDF! I bought mine and am not affiliated with Grainline Studio in any way!

If you are looking for a great shirt pattern to use with your quilting cottons look no further! I highly recommend the "Scout Tee"! I made several shorter versions this Summer to wear with capris!

In the Fall and Winter I wear leggings and needed a little more length to my top, it was really easy to alter the pattern to add 3"! It even has a cut line on the pattern to add or lengthen so it is great for beginners like me!

Watch out some crazy old lady may come by your house for candy on Halloween night with her little friends! We travel in packs it is safer that way! Have a Safe and Happy Halloween!

Please take the time to visit the other blogger's for today and enter to win prizes provided by the Blog Host!

More updates

Hello Cherished Friends,

It has been awhile since I posted regularly and I am sorry. I am going to try to do better. It is so easy just to post to instagram but that is not the reason I became a blogger is it. If I don't blog then, blogger means nothing and well I love this blog of mine and the people who read it.

I have been sewing so I will share some pictures with you.

Love working on Foundation Paper Piecing this one is by Kristy Lea (@quietplay) • Instagram photos and videos she makes beautiful patterns! You can find out more about tools for FPP on this blog post In The Boon Docks: Tools in My Toolbox - FPP Add-on

Working on a few little baskets! The pattern is the Tiny Treasure Basket & Tray designed by Anna Graham for Tiny Treasures Basket and Tray Free Pattern: Robert Kaufman Fabric Company follow the link and click on - download pattern - it is Free!

Handmade Style I recommend if you buy one book this year this should be it. I love these wallets I made from the pattern in Anna Graham's book! The book is filled with really wonderful patterns! I will be making wallets for Christmas!

I made a Tula Pink Turtle pincushion! Just line it up, sew, and stuff with filling I used plastic pellets and stuffing.

Thank you for reading - Lisa
