Here's to Fugly Fabric

I am going to do this on February 7, 2012, and post all my fabric I think is Fugly and someone can have it for the postage or trade me something they have. So somehow I will have to learn to link and hopefully maybe others from the USA will sign up. Does postage count as buying fabric, I hope not, I am trying to keep with my Resolved-to-sew 2012 goals

Lets see if this works. I am going to try and follow along with this Quilt Along, let see. She has great tutorials for each block and they are not to hard. This is my first button so we shall see if it out if it works in a minute. If it does we are in button heaven. I would like to know how to post them to the side not just in a post. Any comments

Resolved-To-Sew-2012

Resolved To Sew 2012. Very Berry Handmade has some awesome prizes in her Resolved to Sew Giveaway 1. To start a blog and learn about blogging. Only problem-find people to read the blogs once written. Working on this one. 2. Join a BOM thats a block of the month quilting group. I have started this through www.craftsy.com and it is free. You should take a look! 3. Continue to make pillowcases through WV Cabell County CEOS. Last year I made 35 for local charties with this group. So, this year my goal is 45. 4. Learn beginning free motion quilting. 5. Use what I have in my fabric stash to make quilts for 6 months. This will be the hardest resolution for me to keep. I love fabric. 6. Make a quilt for a foster child. They need extra love and I am truely blessed with two awesome daughters and a loveable grandson. Spread the love. 7. Make a quilt to enter into the Cabell County Fair to represent my 4H group. Now it your turn to make your sewing goals for...

Baby Girl Quilt

Image
I am so excited to finish this baby quilt to take to the Craftsy meeting on January 26, 2012. It is made from Connecting Threads, Hope Chest fabric charms. It took 2 1/2 charm packs. I wanted to practice 2 inch squares, lining up the squares. I think it came out nice. What do you think?

Handmade or Homemade

Image
The yarn is from Yarn Bee, Chrysalis, Psyche Six knitted stitches, knit on the top(small string end), skip every second hole, back and forth, 1 skein makes one scarf I made about 15 swirl scarves around Christmas and gave them away to family and friends. Another family member saw her Aunt's scarf and wanted to know where she could buy one. The Aunt told her I made it for her for Christmas. Long story short I dropped one off at her house the next day. She said "oh let me buy it", I refused payment. I feel the biggest compliment someone who receives something I have made is to wear it or show it off. She told me how happy she was to receive it and then said to me "I knew you made things at home but nothing like this". I do not understand when people see things I handmade they are so surprised. Do you see the same thing? That people who do not make things themselves, cannot see the difference between handmade and homemade? Is there a difference? Plea...

Baby Burp Cloths

Image
I made today, one set is for my husbands cousins baby girl and the other is for my best friend Laura Freedmans grandson due February 2, 2012. I was told these shoulder burp cloths are great. I got the pattern from Martingale & Company, it is by That Patchwork Place, and it was a free download. One side is any cotton fabric, and the other is baby flannel. Very simple try one.

I am so excited at the Craftsy Block of the Month. Amy Gibson is very talented, and it is free. Here are my January blocks, Asterisk and Wonky Pound Sign blocks. I don't think my wonky is wonky enough but I tried.
Well to day I got a few things done we have a scenic view to look at on the way into the boone docks. I finshed a samll quilt for a Cratsy meeting I going to on the January 26, 2012. Took 2 1/2 5 in squares it is really cute. I need a friend or two but dont know where to find them. I got the new "Backyard" fabric line I am going to make a baby quilt for my godsons son due in February. Sound confusing I know. I can be that way. But a little bit at a time tomorrow hopefully some pictures of my work.

Sunday God's Day

Today is Sunday up and out the door we went to a little church on the side of the road. The pews are filled with mostly my husbands Aunts and cousins, second and even a few third cousins. One way or another we are mostly related the ones who are not are as close to family as you can get. David, my grandson loves it there and going to Sunday School with his cousins. So not only do you get a loving feeling from so many others that you really do love in you heart, God always seems to be working there. I have been to churches all over the country from L.A. to Orlando and the one I like best is this little one on the side of the road. I am truely blessed with a good husband and family, mine, his, and ours. Tomorrow I will work on making this look like a really blog with a few pictures and maybe a button or two. It is a learning experience for me.
I am new to all this, I bet everyone says that. I live in the boon docks of WV with my husband, grandson, and mother. I have two grown daughters that live on their own in cities they always tell me I live in the boon docks so thats the name of my blog now. I like to do lots of things especially making items for my friends and family. I sew quilts, knit, crochet, scrapbook, and try new things
