One Hour Top

Image
This morning I woke up and decided I would make myself a new knit top! Sewing with knits is not my regular thing to do, so I went to Sew a One Hour Top by Fancy Tiger - Creativebug what a treat! The pattern is included and the video tutorial is excellent! The ladies know how to sew anything I think. If you have a serger (I don't know how to use mine) or a sewing machine the class shows you both ways!   You do need stretch or ball point needles to sew knits. I was advised to use polyester thread and it does help the thread from breaking! A twin needle is needed to get a nice hem! I need more work on twin needles but it is working. Here is my top with no hems yet!     Whenever I make a new pattern the first time I use knits that are not expensive. If the pattern is to small or hard, I don't have to feel the pain of tossing $30 or more in the give away pile. Lets talk about strips on my 2x plus size body. When they go horizontal they make me look fatter! Vertical...

September 11, 2016

Photo brought to you by Spencer Platt/Getty Images! My heart is with the families of the victims of the vicious attacks on September 11, 2001. I don't want my family, my friends, or any one to forget how the victims died. They have to know this was an attack on Americian way of life. No one was excluded from this tragedy these men meant to kill as many people as possible. They did not care who was murdered! Take a few minutes today to pray or send good thoughts to the victim's families! The victim's who survived are still suffering 15 years later! The 75,000 rescue workers who today are ill with conditions associated with the cleanup. I wish I could say something that would give them strength and peace and I pray God will grant them that. Wonky Star Mini Quilt

Image
Starry Night Mini Quilt 19" x 19" Fabrics: Blueberry Park, Lula Magnolia, Threads: Aurifil 50 wt. Reduction of a Foundation Pieced Pattern! To make this mini quilt I reduced Jeli Quilts pattern "Wonky Star Quilt Top" pattern by 50%. Then adding the 1/4 seam allowance back to each piece. The Jeli Quilts pattern is available for free from Craftsy. Wonky star quilt top - Free pattern by Jeliquilts - Craftsy   Sew on a folded square piece of fabric on the top two corners will make it easy to hang with a dowl rod! Do this before sewing on your binding at 1/8"! Then sew on your binding and it re-enforces it for hangingn the wall! Make sure whenever you shrink a FPP pattern that you add the 1/4" back on to the pieces and print them off again. This was made for the Instagram swap #starblockquiltswap! My favorite Aurifil 50 wt. thread and bobbini! They work great together! Until next time! Lisa   Create and be unique - Lisa
