Stitch on Prints - December Aurifil Giveaway Winner Congratulations # 105 taurigal December 17, 2013 at 7:25 AM My favorite designer is Jinny Beyer. I have purchased many of her patterns and fabrics over the years. I am not familiar with many of the others on the list of designers you provided... Now is a good opportunity to get to know them as well! Thank you. I will contact you tonight! 7 spools of Aurifil! Merry Christmas! Spending all my free time the last couple weeks working on Christmas presents left little time for anything else. It was our Granddaughters first so I wanted to make her a little quilt. First I hand stitched the blocks on the panel (Stitch on Prints - December) Then free motion quilting the quilt. I keep practicing but I am afraid I need lots more. I admire all you folks who have learned this skill. 2014 will be the year of the challenge in FMQ for me. Holiday Frost Jan Shade Beach Henry Glass & Co., Inc. Fruitcake Friend

Image
Thearica @ Pig Tales and Quilts makes a tasty fruitcake! My mother is 70 years old and came to live with us, 8 years ago, when we moved to our isolated home in West Virginia to help us raise David. I was so sick in those days I think a big part was to help care for me. One of the things I learned was she loved fruitcake and prior to living with us would hunt around in the city at Christmas time for just the right blend of all those delicious ingredients and buy just the right one to enjoy through the holidays. I make it my mission each year to get her one as a small gift to thank her for all she does for our family. When Thearica was giving away fruitcake as a giveaway all I could think of was I had to win. Sadly, I did not but she is so sweet she sent me one anyways. Yesterday, when the mail-woman showed up with a box marked perishable marked on the outside my Mom was quite interested in what might be inside. I said "I don't know, why don't you open it"! W...

Le Challenge

Image
Le Challenge #8 Precious Precious? My favorite boy has been feel a under the weather. I snapped this photo of him last night after thinking once again what I have made that I thought was precious. I think of my children and grandchildren as precious. Mainly because they are precious to me. Then as I looked at him sleeping on his zebra pillow, laying on the Christmas quilt, covered by my big bed quilt, with the blanket I crocheted on the plane to wait for his birth, this is why I create things! To wrap the people I love, in my love! These things I created are precious to him! I hope it make sense! I think this blurry photo of my granddaughter, 10 months old, yelling Nana at me is precious! I keep this picture for that reason! Yes Mrs. Lucy Charm About You I did take this photo so does the photo count as an entry? Ha ha! The hand on the right is Davids not the babys. Pot Holders and Practice FMQ

Image
Feeling the Pressure? Well this week has flown by and I am feeling a little stressed! It always seems to do that when I have so much to do and make. I have several projects going at once for Christmas. Scrambling around looking for decorations, finding the presents I stashed away months ago, and wrapping the ones I have found. Plus shopping for the ones I forgot. Ever do that knowing you will need presents for a few but the perfect gift never appeared so at the end you are looking for something they will like. I hate buying gifts that don't match the person, one reason I shop all year. Do you? To add to all this confusion last week while cooking my husband asked me for a few new pot holders. He said the ones we have are just to small and thin. This was after he had used his mothers new ones that I made here for the Black Tie Boogie! This fabric was in my stash for a few years! I know Jan Patek is the designer, some call it cheater fabric because you don't have to...

HeatnBond Giveaway

Update: I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote the HeatnBond Giveaway , no end date! The Therm-o-Web giveaway will end December 8, 2013 at midnight! A Bucket to the rescue! Let's get sewing! Imagine what you want and make it! You can do it! We had a full house for Thanksgiving and Zoey as you can see got some blocks for Christmas. My cousin and his daughter have other obligations at Christmas so we celebrate early each year. The big plus is deer season coincides with Thanksgiving and he gets a little me time and fills their freezer at the same time. It has worked out fine until I was stepping on blocks at 2 a.m. I knew I needed a quick solution before I stumbled and fell. After that first step, I knew Zoey needed a container, bag, or a bucket for those darn blocks. Something she could put them in and dump them out. Children at her age love repetition! This is also a great way to teach young children to pick up after themselves. I decided on a simple bucket ...
