In The Boon Docks

My husband and I decided to make a quick run to our daughters yesterday for the day, to see her family. My daughter wanted me to take some photographs of "Zoey" for birth announcements. We went out and bought a few props and came back to the apartment and went to work. My daughters significant other was at work until 7 pm last night. His reaction to what was going on when he got home made me laugh. I will explain more in a minute. Here are the photos of our attempt to get the perfect shot! Ha ha. Our beautiful butterfly! Over two weeks ago, the rooster escaped from the hen house and ever since has run all over the property avoiding all my efforts to recapture him. He has been chased by dogs and now the chihuahua runs from the rooster. There was an ice storm last night and he seemed to have come out of it unscathed. While I was doing my chicken chores this morning he hung around and eat corn I threw to him. I am hoping maybe he will decide to move back in with his hens soon. Gmama Jane's of GrandMama's Stories , Dare To Dresden Blog Hop, giveaway arrived in the mail yesterday. I have signed up for: I am working on a pouch for my partner in the Modern Scrappy Bits Swap . I am using Perle Cotton to outline the boxes on both the front and the back of the pouch. Having never done this before it is a mystery how it will turn out but I do like the colors. For Valentine's Day I was making an apron for my husband then my digital sewing machine "Martha" stopped stitching on the bottom side. Sears thinks it is the timing, what a drag! So I pulled out my old Kenmore that I take to classes and sew ins and finally got it finished yesterday. "Better late than never", I always say! My husband loves hot sauce and puts it on almost anything. I think it covers up my horrible cooking. Which is why I try to avoid it whenever possible. He is such a good sport! It is only 32 degrees outside and he even brought utensils to simulate cooking. After about 20 photos he was freezing. The reversible apron is Michael Miller " Smokin Hot Black " fabric on one side! Just perfect for his need for sauce. He decided if I was getting anymore pictures he was going to be warm in his work coat. I received the book "Little Stitches for Little Ones" by Amy Butler for Christmas. It has a lot of great projects in it. My daughter found this cute "Butterfly Hat" and wanted me to make one for Zoey. Only problem I have never sewn a hat in my life. Looking through the patterns for the book I found the one for the hat in a variety of baby sizes. Using my handy plastic mat, I placed it over the pattern on the window with the most light shining in (cheap light box) and trace it onto the mat with a permanent marker. David wanted to keep it for his bulldog! Several tips: 1. Use a print with no words! 2. Use a tiny print! 3. Measure the babies head! " Dare to Dresden" Blog Hop Giveaway is HERE It never fails when someone moves to go back to civilization they call my DH (dear husband) to find a new home for their country loved ones. So on Thursday, at 10 pm, we get a call to pick up 4 chickens that night, the closing on their house was at 10 am, in the morning, and that was how we became "Chicken Farmers". Only thing, we have no idea how to take care of 1 chicken much less 3 hens and a rooster. The first 2 nights they slept in a big dog cage inside a small pull behind trailer on my porch, covered with an old blanket. Why you might ask? Because it has snowed for days on in here!
