Happy Easter and 49

Image
Hi All! Well it is official now! I am 49! David told me I wouldn't be old until I was 50, little does he know I feel like a little girl most days playing and learning with him! I am so lucky to have him and the rest of my family. My cousin and his family came to celebrate our birthdays, (his was yesterday), and have Easter together. My youngest daughter and her family will be here tomorrow night. A full house for Easter, I am so grateful. I feel really blessed. It has been a great day in the boon docks today! Here are my finished Easter bunnies hiding for now for the kids's baskets. These are so cute, you still have time to make one for someone. You can find the pattern and tutorial at Revoluzzza Let Sew It . If you want some really soft baby yarn this is the greatest. I bought mine at Walmart and JoAnn's The big finish for this week is Zoey's crocheted blanket for her Easter present. Thank you for stopping by "In The Boon Docks" and have a Hap...

Simple Joys

Image
"Simple Joys in Life"! My family is my life. My husband - I love him so much I feel like I could burst sometimes! My beautiful daughters bring me joy just talking to them. My grandchildren are so delightful and fun just to hold! But David keeps me much busier than that! I don't know were my life would be without him! Yes! These two are family and part of the simple joy I have everyday! I love making things even if it is not a quilt, sewing little things to give to or swap with others! It brings me such joy sending off things for someone else to get a surprise in the mail. I have yet to be disappointed on what I received in return! The look on a child's face when you give them something you made just for them! (Last weeks starts and finishes). I love fabrics - to look, hold, pet, buy, create! It gives me so much pleasure just going through my fabric containers looking for the next project! Big joy comes when going to quilt stores! The daffodils poking their...

Easter Pot Holders

Image
I was stocking my Covert Robin and one of the things she has pinned is "Easter Pot Holders", the tutorial and pattern are available for free and you can pin it at Miss Mary Sewing Class or visit the blog Miss Mary Sewing Classes Blog David just had to demo how to use them! Just in case someone out in Blogland hasn't used a pot holder before. Here is how to hold your pan with the pot holders on! The tutorial is excellent! The instructions are easy to follow and the pattern very simple. Just the way I like it. The only thing I added was a layer of Warm and Natural Batting with the insul-Bright pieces of the pattern. WVMQG met this afternoon and we had a swap. I thought the pot holders would make a great swap gift. So I made a set of them with these little Elephants for my partner. (Scraps). Sarah really liked them. Yippee! Sarah of COOPCRAFTS made me this really cool Key Fob! She has a great tutorial on her website on how to make "Ribbon Key Fobs". ...

Bloglovin or Feedly

Image
I think it is a personal choice on which reader you choose to use when Google Reader gets dumped. In a way the news has made me do some research on which was best for me. I use an iPad 3 as my primary internet device. On many blogs today, I read "follow me with Bloglovin". I say, follow "In The Boon Docks anyway you want just please still read it"! I do feel you should know what your getting before you have to load a app or program on your computer. This blog post seemed pretty on point on what I found and thought I would post a link to it for you here Nosh On It. Psst! I like feedly so far, let you know more as I find it! Can you keep a secret? I made this large pouch for my partner in the Covert Robin and I have no idea if this is enough? Don't tell on me for asking! I will post about it later in the month! Do you think this gift is worth $20 - $30? Trying to figure out if I need to make more for her? You are my go to friends, so leave me an ...

Repairing Utilitarian Old Quilts

Image
First, I just have to show you Apple Jack Cotton, by Tim and Beck, from Moda. Isn't this fabric line so cute! I won a jellyroll during the Quilting Gallery Blog Hop from Sharon @ Vroomans Quilts ! Thank you Sharon, you have such great taste in fabric, I plan on something fun for my littlest baby girl! The next blog hop will be "April Showers" with Madam Samm ! I bought this old quilt at a yard sale for a $1.00. It had no batting, just a piece of muslin sewn on. One day I planned to deconstruct it so I could practice Free Motion Quilting (FMQ) that day has arrived! Repairs needed to be made where it had a couple of little wear holes. I grabbed a couple of scraps and went to work. Cut a scrap bigger than your hole. Then iron all 4 sides over about 1/8". Cut out a piece of "Heat Bond", I used "Lite" because that is what I had on hand, that fits almost to all the sides (to big and you get yuck on your iron). Now, iron the "Heat Bond...

My husband made them a little house out of one of our old aquariums. I present them here for your viewing pleasure! Now, really are down "In The Boon Docks"! Create and be unique, Lisa

International Quilt Day

Image
(He is green, so you can't pinch me)! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Saturday, was International Quilt Day! What did you do? Well I had a day of enjoyment! I started the quilt "Cascarone", pictured below, which is on my list for a new March start for , 2013 NewFO Challenge . For the beginners out there: when you look at this page, you are looking at 4 templates; (2) for a small triangle block and (2) for the larger. First draw out your larger, then the smaller. Write down fold line and other important information so in 6 months or 6 years you can us them again. Using your cheap plastic mat, tape the page with the template facing the mat, and hold it to a sunny window. I find a permanent marker works best to trace the lines for the template you need on the page. After your done marking it let it dry for 5 minutes. Or, you might experience smug...and then redo! I use my heavy duty kitchen scissors to cut them out but any full size scissors you don't cut fabric w...
